To help drying out the phone, I suggest taking the phone apart. (i.e. battery, sim card, back cover, etc) putting it all into a container of rice, Use a container that you can put a lid on. Let the phone set in the rice for a couple of days. The uncooked rice will draw the moisture out of the equipment. This will dry it out, but whether or not it shorted the unit out is your next step. Your sim card will be fine. Your battery may be lost. Hopefully your phone did not short out.

Uniden 6.0 phone got wet.

If the phone got wet it will probably not work anymore. You might try tossing it in a bag of rice to dry it out completely. But in most cases, dropping the phone in water will ruin it.

You may have done permanent damage by putting the battery back in too soon. Remove the battery and put the phone in a warm dry place and leave it for week to dry out internally. Maybe it will work after that but you're most likely looking at having to replace it.

Telephone dropped in well a year ago can't retrieve

All electronics parts carry metal/other elements of some kind. There can be lead, gold, mercury, etc. I would suggest trying to get the electronics out somehow and get the water tested. Personally, I wouldnt drink the water until the parts are removed and the water was tested. I am very carefull when health is concerned.

Dropped in water keeps saying insert sim .nokia 6230i

Turn it off. NOW!

Open up the battery compartment / remove the battery, remove the SIM card and anything else that will allow improved air access to the phone.

Now find somewhere warm to leave it to thoroughly dry out - An airing cupboard is a good place. The oven is not!

Alternatively, if you have any bags of silica-gel lying around (the little sachets that come in electronic goods packaging) place the phone in a sealed bag with a few of them.

Leave it for at least 24 hours to dry out and then see if the problem has rectified itself.

I don't want to sound too pessimistic, but there is only a slim chance that this will work. Unless you dropped it in distilled water, any remaining residue left once it has dried out could still cause further problems.
