Question about Whirlpool Gold White-on-White 21.9 cu. ft. Conquest Side-By-Side Refrigerator with Ice and Water GD2SHAXLQ Side by Side Refrigerator
Our Conquest Side by Side w/ UltraEase Plus Water Filtration System & ice/water dispenser unit in the door quit dispensing water today. We thought it might have something to do with the filter since we noticed that the "time to change" light was red (not sure for how long). But even after replacing the filter, still no water. Oh, & the old filter was extremely difficult to get out, almost like it was stuck in there w/ lots of pressure. Ice seems to be working, at least for now. Please help!!! The hottest days of the summer are here with 100+ degree days & no end in sight. THANKS!!!

not dangerous, i would recommend vacuuming coils under and behind refrig, make sure the fan behind the unit( cooling for compressor) is running full speed. the water is probably "warmer" then usual because the waterline runs across the bottom of the refrig, which appears to be overheating as it is. this should rectify your issue

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use
and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater
comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost
drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the
freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.
Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

This may not be the problem now but by the sound of the malfunctioning water lines etc., it could be in the future. The start device on some models of refridgerator for maytag and whirlpool have been recalled. If your appliance was manufactured in the last 5-10 years you may be having an issue with this component. Mine recently caught on fire at this device that is located near the compressor. If you would like to be a part of the petition for a recall on this appliance contact me at email@example.com
