I would return the whole thing back. Are you having any problems accessing any data out of your hard drive?

Power on a hp mother board

As a student of electronics, you would be a better judge of the worth of the Laptop Parts in YOUR hands. As a project in what you can make work from parts , why not. As a workable, useful machine , doubtful. Ask yourself, Is it a project, and you have access to Misc. computer parts that will fit this or do I have to invest Time and Money , and end up with nothing but a jumble of broken computer parts. Do your self a favor, List the working Spare Parts on Ebay, make a few bucks and 1, Have a few beers, 2, Save the money towards buying a good used computer.

My HP Laptop suddenly started showing vertical stripes around once a week and could use it anymore until I turned it off. on rebooting, I would hear a couple of loud beeps but the PC will not boot....

There are a couple thing youcould have been looking at. number one a virus(trojan) got into you machine.

Number two you mother board is starting to go.

Number three your video card located on the mother board is gouing bad.

Number four you hard drive is getting weak

The fan on a laptop always runs to keep the machine cool. Smaller spaces get hotter faster.

I think based on your decription it was a virus, make sure you protected. Back up all ou info just incase it is the hard frive is startig to fail.

Need to replace mother board would i use one with 939 socket for amd and not reformat my hard drive

... and tell me, what is your question. The hard drive doesnt care what the mother board looks like with the following proviso ... you have a IDE drive not ... the new mother board must support it. You have a serial drive, the mother board myst support it.

As long as you can plug in the drive, the drive doesnt really care.

My computer won't recognize my wd my book 500g hard drive. I think it overheated and now is making noise (internal relay switching) It sounds like it's trying to turn on and off but it is on!! What can I...

There can be 3 possible problems since you hear the clicking sound. 1 is that the drive is not receiving enough power from the power supply and it is attempting to turn on. 2nd is the controller board is damaged and 3rd is the drive itself is damaged. From my experience with WD external drives. the 3rd is my best guess. One thing you can try is to buy an external chassis for the hard drive and take the hard drive out of the My Book and put it in the chassis to see if it works. Get one from a place with a good returning policy would also be good as well

Motherboard Product no. needed

HP uses a proprietary motherboard. The only way you'll find the specifics is on your build sheet from HP or by contacting their tech/customer support department. Sorry I can't be of further help. Good luck.

Getting noise in HP dv2700t 14" laptop

I wonder if the controller board on the motherboard is bad. I'd report it to HP again and see if they can fix it for you. Obviously they switch vendors for getting hard drives.

Clacking noise hard drive on HP Pavilion dv2700 Laptop

Laptop hard drives can be a bit louder than the new desktops and because you're closer may be more noticable. The sound from that youtube is about normal - this video is the sound of the heads crashing - mechanical drive failure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRj6dP1Pi1Q
Just to be safe - BACKUP your important data and if you don't have the install disks, make a set.
