Has it been formatted yet? use Fat32 or NTFS for formatting to see the total capacity. In my computer check the properties.
If you are using this on a Windows 95 / 98 with u.s.b support unit with a Fat16 file system on your C: drive theres a very good chance it wont recognise its total capacity, otherwise if you could see its full capacity earlier the device may have some bad memory chips on it, or hasnt been disabled before removal one to many times..

If its brand new it may not have been formated in the right file structure for your o/s especially if its an older version of windows pre-2000 although I think Windows Mellenium edition (sigh -shudder) might support ntfs format.

Good luck with this one.

What?  Perhaps you mean your SDHC SD memory card can only store 2GB of data because your card reader and its drivers are pre-SDHC?  Usually formatting isn't an issue.  You get a "disk full" error after 2MB, copying from some file manager?  What, really?

One memory works on my gateway Lx6801

hi
the one working stick of memory needs to be put into the first memory bank.these are normally 2 coloured different to the other 2.make sure they are securely in place. plastic clips lock into memory stick.once done while power lead is removed turn on at tower.this will clear memory.plug back in and give it a try,if ok add another stick of memory although you said the other three sticks don't work give it a try they may work and save you a fortune.

Having problems upgrading my GatewayDX4840-11e to 32GB of memory.

Memory Type: DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-12800, DDR3 PC3-8500, DDR3 PC3-14900, DDR3 (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 32GB
Slots: 4
Each memory slot can hold DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-12800, DDR3 PC3-8500, DDR3 PC3-14900 with a maximum of 16GB kit (8GBx2) per slot.*
*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.

Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules.

How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS.

I recently added 2 sticks of 1 Gb Ram to my desktop, to now have a total of 4 1 Gb sticks. This newly added memory is PC2 @ 5300Mhz speed. The older 2 sticks of 1 Gb memory are PC 2 @ 6400 speed,...

It depends on what you would like the end result to be. If you need to multi-task, and have 10 windows running at once, go with the 4GB @ 5300 because while it might take a little longer your computer will still be able to handle all the information. However if you are just using it for light browsing and would prefer speed over bulk (when it comes to data processing) go with the 2 @ 6400. I don't think it would be worth it to get 2 more @ 6400, technology is advancing so fast. If you have 60 bucks you can upgrade to two 4GB @ 10600 (8GB total for $60) 1333MHz PC3. Lookup Corsair XMS3 4GB RAM.

I have a maxell memory stick 2mb and it keeps on telling me that the lock is on, this stick doesnot have a switch to turn it off it will not leave me delete anything off the stick can anybody help

Check the properties on the individual file. are u trying to delete Propritory files on the Maxwell ? or your own files.

Right click on the file, then choose properties, see if its read-only. Also, check the security tab to see what permissions ur user name has. edit modify accordingly.

this may help.
