Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook

1 Answer

Video/screen issue When I leave my laptop on for any extended time, from 10 minutes or longer, the screen freezes, goes black, and won't respond. When I manually shut down, and power back up, the screen is split into 6 segments of what would be normal, except lines are running through it all. I've reset my drivers, ran startup repair, lowered settings, raised them, etc. Sometimes, it will run for ok again for awhile, but it always happens again. I'm using NVIDIA drivers.

SAVE your important stuff NOW and,
FORMATT this Machine,

I see many issues but to format and reinstall a new fresh install will quickly tell you if the issue was the graphic drivers or the machine settings because of defaults conflicting with other softwares,
or anything else,
The formatt will take minutes and the OS reinstall could be about 30 minutes depending on the OS version,

Is it doing your head in yet ???

But wait theres more,

Don't wait till its important and its vital that it works right now,
And Because it lets you down,etc......

Back up your stuff """"""AND """""" FORMAT

OR

When it fails then formatt it,
Its already useless when you can't use the functions it was designed for but much more fun if you can recycle the info and reuse the space again and again.

Sounds like a VIRUSS ???Format will eliminate this possiblity.

Ok I have covered a couple of issues,
yes there are more,
so a very quick fix is GOOD.

Phew,I got a headacxhe just thinking about it,lol

Good luck , hope this helps, Please rate me,Thanks

Sounds like your dealing with a software issue. Most likely a video driver. if there was a recent time that the machine worked, I'd run a system restore. Then look for what might have been installed that caused this problem so you can stay away from it.

Hi I know the problem and solution,
your laptop was overheating right? the fans were quite loud right? then this problem occured
it is what I call a Dead GPU and you are victim of Dust Build up on the heatsink after
more than 1 year of use.
to fix it, permanently it needs a new graphic chip replaced or "reballing"
people can offer you a temporary fix "reflow" which works for 1 month

Inspiron Core i5 Laptop. Error: Display driver stopped responding

Hi there!
You mentioned that's a 2 month old laptop,
From what i'm seeing here you should at least have 1 year of warranty with it if you purchased it online,
For the issue you have there,
Might want to specify what video card you have there.
For the drivers, go to support.dell.com then enter your service tag, make sure your select the right operating system, then you'll be able to see the drivers, update the video card driver and the BIOS,
If the problem persist go to nvidia and check your video card if they have released a new driver update,
Worst case scenario is replacing the video card.
Hope this helps!

My flip video won't turn off or record, won't be acknowledged by PC via USB port - seems to have frozen - screen is black but light behind it showing power is on but can't do anything with it.

To fix, I held the on/off button down for an extended time (around 10 secs approx) until it finally turned off. Left it alone for a few minutes and then turned back on. Worked okay. Also got a response from flipshare support who said there is a reset button inside the tripod space, use a pin to press that and then fully recharge camera via USB slot on PC.

Received Kodak 8.1 last April. Now it freezes

1. Go into the menu and find "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions. 2. Remove the card and battery...press all the buttons...leave it alone for 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery...turn it on.

Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop..the screen goes almost black after 5 minutes.

The screen goes black while in normal mode right? So try to boot in safe mode (power on then keep tapping F8 then select safe mode). Check if still happens in safe mode.

If screen does not goes black in safe mode it means there might be a software or driver causes problem when running in normal mode. You can try the following (update your anti virus software then run a full system scan, uninstall the video driver then download and install the latest one, uninstall any previous windows update or you can system restore to the time when it was working fine).

If the screen goes black even in safe mode they try connecting the laptop to an external monitor if still goes black, if yes then absolutely no issues with the LCD panel. You can try (uninstall and reinstall the video driver if still persist then this might end up replacing video card or motherboard, but before doing that update the BIOS first).

If does not goes black in ext monitor then the LCD panel might causes the problem. Reseat the LCD cable or inverter if you can.

When monitor power button is pressed, a small white image appears and alternates briefly between an alalog and digital icon in black then the screen goes blank, no color.

My issue is similar.. however after trying a couple of times it will work. (yes everything is plugged in) It will function for a good 10 minutes before just powering off (blackout) screen.
If you attempt to turn it on after it blacking out, the blue led for the power button will blink a couple of times and it will remain off.
However if you wait 5-10 minutes and turn it back on, it will repeat itself...

I have it hooked up to a radeon X1650 graphics controller as a secondary digital controller, and its hooked up by VGA cable.

I also have two other displays besides this one (one primary and extended that dont have any issues whatsoever.. they continue to function while the syncmaster 193p takes its time snoozing.... please help.

LG 47" LCD FLAT SCREEN

IF IT WASNT DIGITAL HD I WOULD HAVE SUSPECTED HIGH VOLTAGE POWER SUPPLY BUT THAT DOES NOT EXIST HERE.
Well, not completely true; the fluorescent backlight is still a high voltage device, even if only hundreds of volts instead of kilovolts, and either the lamp(s) or the power supply for it (them) is causing the dropout of your picture. When it does it next time, look at the screen from various angles, I think you will see that video content is still there.
