When sending an email in Outlook, it freezes when I hit send, I am able to get on the Internet ok, the email doesn't go to the outbox but shows it as sent.

Outlook is creating lots of errors...the fastest...safe way to send mail via the site...(eg:- hotmail - hotmail.com)

Have you ever sent an email using Outlook, and your email goes into the "Outbox" instead of being sent? This tip may help you to determine what's going on.

The Windows Task Bar

On the Windows task bar located at the bottom of your screen, is the "Icon Tray" that is helpful in determining what's going on with what is currently running. When everything is working as it should, the icons will look similar to the ones shown here. The icons you see vary depending on what services and applications are currently running. It also depends on which icons you have chosen to be visible, hidden, or visible at certain times. Those options are located in the Task Bar Preferences.

Well, that depends on the following two factors: 1) there is an internet connection. 2) Outlook's setting for the Send/Receive interval. You can set Outlook to perform a S/R immediately when you click Send, but technically you're setting Outlook to perform a S/R immediately when a message is put in the Outbox. Normally this happens so quickly that you don't notice the Outbox turning bold. But rest assured, your outgoing message always goes to your Outbox to await its time even if it's immediately.

You can have Outlook perform a S/R based on a time interval of your choosing. This is useful when you have limited connection at certain times of the day, or you if you want all your emails to be delivered in a batch at one time rather than "as you go". Having Outlook perform a S/R every 15 min, for example, means that during the times between, your bandwidth is free for other types of traffic like video chat where the more bandwidth available, the better.

Problem Indicators

When problems arise, glance down at the two bars. Using the image here, see if you can determine what's wrong before reading the explanation.

It's actually quite easy. If you look at the icons in the proper sequence, the first one to check is the internet connection. For me, it's the second icon from the right next to my volume control. Shown here, it indicates I've lost my internet connection. I wouldn't need to even open Outlook to know what the problem is. With no internet connection, Outlook can't connect.

If I did open Outlook, I'd most likely see what is shown here. Outlook shows it is Disconnected and that there is a Send/Receive error. You might wonder in bewilderment, as I do, why does Outlook attempt to perform a S/R if it knows it's disconnected? I guess that's for the geniuses at Microsoft to figure out.

Cannot delete email from outbox in outlook express


Plz disable ur internet, close ur outlook without sending, then open again & if sending receiving then cancel immediately, now u can delete ur e-mail from outlook.

Outlook 2007 - Emails sticking in outbox.


Be sure that only one instance of Outlook is running.
You can verify this by openning the tasks manager and ordering process alphabetically.
Kill all redondant Outlook processes.

Emails stuck in Outbox


Tools > Options > Mail Setup > Send/Receive > Clear check mark on "Schedule Automatic Send/Receive every .. minutes" > OK

Close your Outlook > Open Outlook again > Go to Outbox > Select The message > Send To/Move To Draft

Go to Draft Folder and delete it from there

Hello
I havent seen that problem with Outlook Express just with Microsoft Outlook. but this solution should work with outlook express to.
here how you solv it. you need to remove the outbox file manually. remember that all your outbox files gonna be deleted.
step by step.
1.close outlook express
2. go to C:\Documents and Settings\"your user name"\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\("alot of numbers here.->"{7850C6E6-099E-4EFD-A3F5-A88CA4FC6169}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\

* if you can find Local settings you need to show hidden files!
a. go to tools>folder options->view-> mark show hidden files and folders-> ok

3.in the map outlook express delete the outbox.dbx or move it somewhere.

4. try now to start the outlook express and the outbox should be empty.

Outlook problems


Empty the Outbox in Outlook Express, move any messages you want to Send later to the Drafts folder.

Close Outlook Express.
Do a Search for .dbx files.
Search:
  • Start > Search > For Files or Folders > All files and folders,
    In the field for: all or part of the file name
    Key in:
    .dbx
    Below that, click on More advanced options
    in the field: Type of File, select (All Files and Folders)
    place a checkmark in:
  • Search system folders
  • Search hidden files and folders
  • Search subfolders
    click Search

Locate the Outbox.dbx file and Sent Items.dbx file and delete it.
Restart Outlook Express, a new Outbox.dbx file will be created.
Send yourself a Test message to see if it leaves the Outbox.


You may need to enable Show Hidden Files and Folders to see the .dbx files.
Windows XP:
  • Open My Computer,
    Tools > Folder Options > View tab,
    under Hidden Files and Folders, verify Show Hidden Files and Folders is selected.
    Remove the check mark for Hide Extensions for known file types.
    Apply, OK to save and close.

Email stuck in outbox


Here's the fix if when you send an email attachment from another application it gets stuck in the Outlook Outbox...

Tooks us a long time to come up with it but great to have! It's fixed in Outlook 2007.
