Most remotes are held together by one or two screws in the battery holder . Once they are removed you should be able to prise the top and bottom of the case apart using a piece of hard plastic or a plectrum(what guitar players use) prise it apart round all sides and bottom and you should then be able to pull it apart. Also check if there are any labels on the remote and that no screws are hiding under them
when you take it apart i would recommend cleaning the rubber key pad base, the part that presses onto the circuit board contacts and cleaning the touch panels of the remote first with some alcohol, allow it to dry then put the circuit back in the base pop some batteries in it and lay the rubber keypad on top and try it, you would be amazed how many times that has fixed a remote for me
