Two things to check, 1- make sure the usb drivers are intalled and the usb ports are enabled and working properly in the device manager, and 2- go into the bios or set up at start up and see if there is an option to enable or disable the usb ports. If so, make sure that they are enabled. Let me know what type of jump drive are you trying to use, make, model,etc..? It could be the drive.

You need to format the disk ....

The drives can be read by another computer, so the problem is most likely with OS/drivers on the HP giving the error. The specific drivers required to read each drive format could be missing/corrupt. Formatting shouldn't be performed on a drive that contains data unless backed up (redundantly). It may be possible to recover any lost data using free recovery software. Often a format preserves data, erases only the file directory.

I would try a system restore on the HP. If that fails to correct it install or upgrade format specific drivers (e.g. SD/SDXC drivers). Contact Magellan about the GPS: you may have formatted the device's system partition. It is unlikely your computer had the correct drivers to format that device, and it is likely formatted in an incompatible format (such as NTFS). Does Magellan provide a utility to read the device's memory? The SD card should be salvageable by formatting on another computer using the appropriate formatting utility. (Go to https://www.sdcard.org and navigate to their formatting utility.)

From that site: "If an SDXC memory card is used through the direct SD slot of a computer without SDXC driver installation, the card may not be recognized correctly and a message to prompt formatting may appear. In this case, do not format the SDXC memory card. It may erase the data on the SDXC memory card and format the card for a different file system, making it incompatible with SDXC devices."

How to solve usb not reconized error in sony vgn-s36gp?

Hello

Disconnect the flash drive from your computer, then plug it into a different USB port. On occasion some USB ports do not detect inserted equipment (either because the port is damaged or because the flash drive is not supported by the particular connection).

Connect the flash drive after the computer has powered on. If you plug the drive into the computer before starting the system, the computer may not detect the USB device.

Open an Internet browser and navigate to the drive manufacturer's website. Although most USB flash drives are plug-n-play, the computer may not have the appropriate drivers installed, which means you must install the driver before the system can use the flash drive.

Select the "Support" option, then choose "Drivers and Downloads". Click on the model of flash drive you are using, then the operating system. Click on the driver download link and wait for the driver to download to the computer. Double-click the downloaded file to load the installation wizard. Accept the license agreement, then follow the prompts to install the driver. Restart the computer and the system is ready to use the USB flash drive.

HP Pavilion zv6000: USB ports are inop. USB port on rear of computer works fine. USB port on left/front will power my flash drive, but the light stays on constantly. The flash drive is does NOT show up in...

After reading the description, I think you need to try updating BIOS and latest device drivers for USB. Because USB are getting power on that means there would not be any fault to from the motherboard.

So please try updating latest BIOS for your notebook.
If you can provide me the product no for your notebook and the operating system which you are using currently then I can find the one for you.

Otherwise you can also do the same.

Type in the product no. on www.hp.com. Then go to software and driver download page, select the proper OS and search in BIOS ROM pack available for your notebook.

I hope this will help.

USB not working

if the usb detects other devices and not your drive, the drive itself may be faulty. If you plug in other devices in the usb and it detects them the usb drive or its connector is most likely bad.If it won't detect any devices the port is bad and drivers won't help.Possibly a motherboard issue.

Just reloaded windows xp have drivers on pen drive dont know how to install

Some drivers come as exe files, in which case copy them first onto your C: drive and then run. Follow the instructions in the installation routine.

I have all my installation files for apps and drivers organised by brand/provider, and then product, in a directory under root on my C: drive, for easy reference. It is similar to how Program Files is organised, but with installation programs. Been useful for rebuilding computer - they are part of my backup regime.

For device drivers that don't come as an exe, start Device Manager (right click on my computer, Manage, management console will open. Find Device manager in the tree on the left and select.)
In Device Manager, you will see some devices that probably have default microsoft drivers. If you know which devices, and you know you have a better driver, then open the device's properties, Driver tab, Update Driver... and follow the prompts to manually find the correct driver, navigating to your USB drive (or C: drive if you copied them there) and the location of the correct driver's .inf file.
