I'm trying to play the new Pokemon Black but I want the free promotional Victini and it says I gotta have Wifi and I'm like "Ok..." And I try to connect it to my houses Wifi but this comes up! "The access point's security settings are not supported by the Nintendo DS. For help, visit support.nintendo.com." It doesn't even tell me what to change or what I have to!

First you'll need a ticket to liberty island which is only available via wi-fi (mystery gift at main menu). If you don't have it now, you've probably missed your chance, but there may be another one.
There are two ways to get Victini (Don't worry I get a load of typos =P).
1. With the liberty ticket, go to Castelia city and find the liberty pier. Speak to the boat operator. Fight through the team Plasma grunts on the island and you'll find Victini. DON'T waste your masterball, save that for Kyurem (Big Ice and Dragon type follow-up to Zekrom & Reshiram In the great crater). Take it's health down into the red and use a move that freezes or puts it to sleep. This should be fairly easy as it knows endure. Save before the battle so if you K.O. it you can try again. Once it's asleep and weakened, just keep throwing ultra balls. If you've K.O'ed it and saved, don't panic, just fly to Castelia city and back and it'll still be there. DON'T run from the battle or it won't come back.
2. In the event you've run and saved, don't have the liberty ticket, or just can't be bothered, go to the GTS (Global Trade Station) and search for Victini. There are bound to be some rip-offs, so beware who you trade with, but you should be able to find a fair deal. Don't waste any legendarys on him!

you can not download victini in pokemon diamond, only in pokemon black and pokemon white

There are certain types of WiFi that can't be picked up by the DS Lite which prompts you error 51099. For example, you can't use a security protected WEP WiFi. I encountered this problem with my DS also and if you know how to remove the password on your WiFi router, that should solve the problem, however it leaves your network unsecured so I suggest doing that only to receive the event gift.

The reason you need a wi-fi to redeem your pokemon is for Nintendo to be able tu check that every code is unique and people are not cheating the system and getting the pokemons they don't own.

To set up your Nintendo DS for online use just follow these official nintendo guides for configuring your wi-fi

The Nintendo DS can only connect to 802.11b networks with WEP encryption (see here). Make sure your access point is 802.11b with WEP encryption in order for your Nintendo DS to be able to connect to it. Than you can try connecting it again.

u dont have to have wifi you only need a action replay my friend gets the mystery gifts all the time useing it he dosent have wifi, i do not have a ds but i do know about them and how to manage them and i know all about pokemon pearl,diamond,platinum

im sorry but you might have to be a bit more specific. I dont think u can update a ds game. and u cant connect it to the computer. the possible putcome i gathered from that is that he wants to play his game online and trade pokemon etc. meaning u need to connect the ds to your computer wirelessly using a
-nintendo wi-fi usb connector-( a usb drive u basically plug into ur computer and gives off internet for nintendo products) or a -wireless router or modem- ( the black box that the cables go through for internet).

When your grandson plays the game and wants to go online, (i will explain how to use this using directions in the game)
1. turn on the ds and load the game
2. watch the introduction movie (shiny pokemon)
3. on the main screen where you decide to either continue, new game, or -NINTENDO WFC SETTINGS-, go to nintendo wfc settings
4.tap the blue box labelled nintendo wi-fi connection settings
5.if ur using a Wi-fi usb tap connect to wifi usb or if using wireless internet tap a blank connection square
6. follow the prompts for the wifi usb and u will be connected to the internet
7. for wireless internet, tap search for an access point
8. when it has found the wireless internet tap O.K/connect/next etc and follow the prompts
9.when thats connected return to pokemon Diamond main screen then tap new game/continue to play
10. walk to the pokemon centre and go downstairs to battle online - or go into a house in
(Jublife city?) to trade pokemon online
