Question about GE GSD5130 Dishwasher

1 Answer

G.E. GSD5130 When the dishwasher is pumping out the water a small amount comes in the rotating sprayer head. At the end of the cycle the dishwasher still has water in the bottom. The amount of water varies from just a little to over an inch. I replaced the spring loaded check valve a couple of months earlier and everything worked fine until now. What should I check? Thankyou.

Mike, I just ran into the same problem. I found a second check valve located in the outlet hose of the ELECTRIC drain motor. This motor is located at the right rear underside of d/w and is used only for backflush of the filter. When the unit goes thru a normal drain cycle, this chk valve closes to prevent backflow to lower sump area thereby increasing the pump pressure to the "piston/nut asmy" popping that up to seal that chamber which then forces water to go up to drain.
You've probably fixed or replaced the thing by now but this might help others.

Why is the top sprayer is not rotating?

This dishwasher uses a pulsating mechanism to push water to each of the spary arms forcing water alternatingly in each arm. This ensures a strong spray is maintained for cleaning.
The pulsating action is obtained through a ball (see item 58 in this diagram). It is possilble that this ball is either stuck or is damaged and needs to be replaced.

Frigidaire Model FDB780RCB0 I am getting water in the machine but it seems the arms are not turning what can I do to get that fixed?

The pump in the dishwasher is supposed to provide enough water pressure to turn the spray arms and make them rotate. The pump is faulty and not giving enough pressure or the arms are stuck.
Try spinning the arms, if they rotate smoothly, you will need to replace the pump.

Kenmore Elite Dishwasher doesn't pump all the water out at the end of cycle

How much water? Does some drain out. If so its usually a dirty filter. Some Dishwashers have several filters underneath the bottom sprayer. Here is a link that may help http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/articles/authored/video-when-to-clean-a-removable-dishwasher-filter Also this link put in your model number and view how to clean your specific dishwasher. Hope this helps.

The soap does not seem to dissolve to clean the dishes and I do not seem to hear the water spraying during wash cycle

your rotator sprayers may be blocked or pump is broken,

remove rotator sprayers by gripping the stem and pulling or twisting out, check manual.

check that the holes are clear.

then try starting your machine with the sprayers out and see if you can hear the water.

if you dont hear anything the pump might be broken,

fistly check that the filter in bottom of machine is clear.

I hope this was useful.

I have a GE GSD 5130 Dishwasher that leaks about 12 oz of water when it is pumping out the wash water and the rinse water. Its fine during the wash and filling cycle. Is it a seal problem?

This is more likely the hose connection at the drain pump or the pump housing is leaking. You will need to remove the toe kick, place unit into a drain cycle and inspect for a leak. Here is a couple links that should help.

The middle and top sprayer is not rotating, causing dirt to remain on the dishes. What controls these sprayers?

When you push the top drawer back to close the door the arm engages into what looks like a small doughnut this is where the water is pumped through your machine.
Both the middle and lower arms get there water this way. Take the lower basket out completly and look at the end of the arm where the water goes in has you lost the small rubber sealing ring it's usually orange in colour and forms a seal when the door is shut.?
If this rubber ring is missing the water will not get pumped to the top of the machine it will just flood out of this connection.

DISHES ARE NOT COMING CLEAN BYPASSED THE DOOR LATCH TO WATCH CYCLES,LOOKS LIKE THERE IS NOT ENOUGH WATER PRESSURE TO ACTIVATE THE WATER TOWER AND ROTATING ARM?WATER PUMPS OUT BUT NOT ENOUGH TO MAKE THINGS...

I had the same problem and fixed it by disassembling the lower spray arm and return filter, and cleaning all the junk out.
Most dishwashers have 'risers' that bring the water up to the top sprayer or arm located under the top rack. If the recirculating pump is plugged even a little there won't be enough volume or pressure to get the water up there.
Test this by putting a dry muffin pan in the top rack, flat, and running the dishwasher for a bit. If there is no water on the top (or the bottom) either the top sprayer or the sprayer arm underneath the top rack is not getting enough volume.
To fix this you need to clean out the screen and filter, where the water returns to be recirculated. If you don't have any confidence to remove the parts and clean it out yourself, get an appliance repair person to do the job.

My 6 yr old Kitchen Aid dishwasher is leaving food residue

After checking all sprayer arms for clearance, and checking heating element and discharge pump, the problem was solved by replacing the small sprayer arm at the top of the washer. This small arm had popped off some time ago - obviously the water pressure was excessive for the small and unimpressive fastener. Luckily we had saved this piece, which I refastened with a strong aluminum non-corroding small bolt. Presto - now the water distribution is back to design specs, with sufficient water coming out under pressure from the mid level arm. Lesson: always look for the simplest cause first with the simplest solution. TCA

Dishwasher Repair

It could be a motor or a pump issue. The dishwasher has a motor that attached to a pump which forces the water up into the sprayer arms and during the drain cycle, it pushes the water out of the dishwasher. The motor (and pump) located beneath the dishwasher. Check if motor spins. In case it spins, the problem is with the pump ,in case it doesn't spin it could be a motor problem or a motor and pump problem. Good luck
