Replacing the pull switch (reostat) should have solved your problem. Try going to the internet at www.google.com and in the Google search box enter "Hampton Bay Fans homepage". If any of these suggestions have been helpfull, please rate my solution. Thanks D. Lange

I have worked on many fans because this fan is ten years old. I want to say that this fan has ball bearings in it. Have you tryed WD-40? If so did it work? Are you able to look inside, through the top of the fan to see if some thing is in its way?

Altura 68" fans will not operate on high speed.

I jtoo, ust bought The Altura (68" fan from home depot)
Home depot makes hampton bay through various chinese manufacturers.................
The fan ran slow on high speed, and barely ran on medium or low.
home depot gave me a number for their tech department that knew right away.....that the capacitor(s) are defective in many of the Altura fans.
They are sending the capacitors in 3 days to me no charge.
They are located under the fan ( remember the white square plastic plug you had to connect and the 2 wires for the optional light kit?.....)That plug is for the capacitors that everyone is having a problem with.
My guess is they are under rated for a fan that big and are sending better ones to those with problems.
Hope this helps.

Fan went from low to high in the middle of the night, won't

I suspect it isn't correctable with a battery change; the speed control element (an unknown semiconductor) has shorted and no longer can control fan speed.
I'm not sure where this is located but is likely an assembly in the hub of the fan itself or with the control in the wall. These are often not repairable items and must be replaced.
I think Hampton Bay is a Home Depot house brand and the might be able to help you.

3-speed switch replaced with hampton bay switch. Only low speed works.

The cause to the problem was replacing a HUNTER fan switch with a Hampton Bay switch. Before removing the old switch, I noted and marked the color and position of the 4 wires. I then duplicated the connections to the new switch.

But the wire positions of Hampton Bay vs Hunter are not identical, therefore 2 wires
were crossed.

The correct way is to note the color of the wires with the corresponding NUMBER
marked on the switches, then duplicate this on the new one.

Hampton Bay 54 In. 5-Blade with remote control at wall.

1. Set the remote to run the fan on high.
2. Pull the fan speed chain until the fan reaches high speed.
3. All speeds should work normally now.
The remote is modulating the maximum speed as set by the pull chain.

Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan At Slow Speed

I recently replaced my hampton bay fan for the same reason (slow at all speeds) and discovered scorched and melted capacitors and wiring inside the fan. My suggestion is to stop using fan and replace immediately.
