The problem is that the largest xD card that your camera can support is a 256mb card without the M or H letters on it. The 1gb or 2gb card is not compatible.

Your older camera can only work with 2GB or smaller standard SD cards. It is not capable of recognizing the newer format 4GB or higher SDHC cards. Fortunately, old format 2GB SD cards are relatively inexpensive these days, and may be purchased on Amazon if your local store no longer carries them.

My c703 won't format a new memory card. The old memory card is full (2GB), but I've tried two NEW Lexar 4GB cards and neither will format. Help!

Hi, The reason neither 4GB card will format is because that camera is only able to support, at most, a 2GB card. I'd suggest returning the 4GB card and getting another 2GB one.

Please describe your why do i get an error when i try using the sd card in my gatewayDCT20 camera

Usually when you see errors with the card it will be due to a few things. The card is bad or corrupt, the card is the wrong type, or the camera has a fault.

Usually the problem is the card (9 out of 10 times). The cards may need to be formated before use or if they go bad to correct them. If the camera won;t give you the option then try doing this on a laptop or using a card reader and try again. Usually card errors are from bad shut downs or running out of power while taking pictures. Sometimes the card is is dead and won't be fixed by reformatting so you can only replace it. (Don;t toss it as it might work in a laptop).

If the card is too big or the wrong speed some cameras will give an error. Not much you can do about this other than getting a new card. Nothing wrong with the card its just not compatible.

If you have this problem with several cards then the camera itself may be at fault. Unfortunetly that usually means repairing the camera or replacing it. Replacement is usually cheaper.

Format problems

Hi: Did you unlock the XD?

If the Xd is not unlocked, then you can not access it and format it.

Your Xd might be too big for your camera.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Buy a 1GB card (or 2). The spec for the SD card format is going to 2GB but the Kodak C330 not compatible with 2 GB SD memory cards.

How to format new xD card for Olympus D-390 when I press OK to Format- I get blue Card Error!

The problem is that the largest xD card that your camera can support is a 256mb card without the letter M or H in front of the 256. The 1gb or 2gb cards are not compatible. The firmware in the camera cannot support storage that large. The cards came out long after the camera did.
