Zr80 camcorder when I put a tape in the recorder, the camera begins to load and then it pops open

I have the same problem. When I tried to load a DV tape to my ZR 80, it did not take it and displayed a message: Remove the cassette, with a warning beep. I tried several times and used new tapes, but nothing worked. I have bought the camcorder about two years, but just used five cassettes on this camcorder. It has stopped working. Is there anything that I can do?

I am having the same problem. I sent my Camera in for service about 1 year ago because of a failure to display anything on screen. It worked fine for about a year and then.... this.

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if a blue screen is displayed when attempting to playback video from the camcorder.

when mechanism pops out to eject, wait until it completly comes out, deattache battery immediately, and Pull lever as per below mentioned picture. Cassette door will be open and place cassette. Close it and attache the battery. Camera is ready to Record or Playback.

On playback, the video has gray lines across it

Someone here recommended on another post to put the lense cap on & videotape the blackness in a quiet room for 5-10 mins. I tried this as a last resort & it worked. When I played back the tape, no more skipping or gray lines. I had 4-5 SOLID gray lines with skipping video & audio in between on every tape I put in. The person who helped me solve this said: "the speed isn't linked with the last time you recorded on it. Frames have an A/B part to them. If A is hitting B instead of A, a line appears. I would try the head cleaner first, then blacken your used tape (keep lens cap on and record in a quiet room) and try that."
My camera is a Canon zr80 digital camcorder. (Called Canon, they had me reset it & then recommended sending it in).

Gray lines on playback

Try using an $8 head cleaner for 10 seconds. That might be the solution or if it's a used tape, the speed isn't limked with the last time you recorded on it. Frames have an A/B part to them. If A is hitting B instead of A, a line appears. I would try the head cleaner first, then blacken your used tape (keep lens cap on and record in a quiet room) and try that.

Hello - Canon ZR80 - auto shut off

If you're trying to use the camera as a webcam, just remove the tape. The auto power-off is a safety for keeping the tape from getting damaged.

Horizontal lines on playback screen

Someone here recommended on another post to put the lense cap on & videotape the blackness in a quiet room for 5-10 mins. I tried this as a last resort & it worked. When I played back the tape, no more skipping or gray lines. I had 4-5 SOLID gray lines with skipping video & audio in between on every tape I put in. I think the person who helped me solve this said that it was a result of the tape alignment going off. My camera is a Canon zr80 digital camcorder.
