Go to this site: http://support.gateway.com/us/en/emac/default.aspx
Navigate the selection menus to select your model. I personally couldn't find any such 5250. Try reading the model from the sticker on the back of the desktop, the model names usually start with a letter. Yours is most likely different than 5250, if it says that on the front. After navigating to your model, you can further navigate the menus to find your audio driver, which will most likely be either realtek or sigmatel.
Try installing the Microsoft UAA HD Audio update, known as KB888111. I'm assuming you're using Windows XP. If not using XP, then DO NOT install this update, and provide the Everest report. You can download the KB888111 installer from ftp://ftp.microsoft.com.ar/so/KB888111/eng/kb888111xpsp2.exe
Some other below::
Here's the direct download link for the RealTek audio driver: (33MB)

If you have Sigmatel audio: (23.xMB)
http://downloads.emachines.com/drive...43-001-001.exe
I'd also grab the chipset drivers. Here's the drivers download page for all other (stock) hardware:
