Go to this site: http://support.gateway.com/us/en/emac/default.aspx
Navigate the selection menus to select your model. I personally couldn't find any such 5250. Try reading the model from the sticker on the back of the desktop, the model names usually start with a letter. Yours is most likely different than 5250, if it says that on the front. After navigating to your model, you can further navigate the menus to find your audio driver, which will most likely be either realtek or sigmatel.

Try installing the Microsoft UAA HD Audio update, known as KB888111. I'm assuming you're using Windows XP. If not using XP, then DO NOT install this update, and provide the Everest report. You can download the KB888111 installer from ftp://ftp.microsoft.com.ar/so/KB888111/eng/kb888111xpsp2.exe
Some other below:: Here's the direct download link for the RealTek audio driver: (33MB)
http://downloads.emachines.com/drive...56-001-002.exe

If you have Sigmatel audio: (23.xMB)
http://downloads.emachines.com/drive...43-001-001.exe

I'd also grab the chipset drivers. Here's the drivers download page for all other (stock) hardware:

I cant get any sound at all on my netbook. It just went suddenly

Louise,

I need to know if it is indeed an eMachines EM250-1915 Netbook PC, and what version of Windows operating system you are using.

We will go to eMachines Support, download AND install the Audio Driver.

[Sometimes Windows has a 'brain f@rt'. Looses the address to the driver file. Most of the time it just takes reinstalling THE audio driver.

Computer is suddenly saying there is no audio device ??

If you just downloaded the Audio driver from EMachines site for that model....when you installed it...there should have been a notice about putting a folder in drive C stating that the installer will give you 2 folders, 1 for new driver and 1 for default driver.....Try and see if there is such a folder in your drive C directory and find a Driver folder...should be near top of directory. The actual exe install icon will be in the Audio driver folder.
If all is well with your onboard audio this may be the problem.....but how did the sound stop working in the first place.......could be bad.
If bad or cant fix...I would just put in a aftermarket sound card in one of the pci slots.

Latest Bios For The E210882

You really should contact Emachine support. I looked for your model # 5250 among all their various model ' series ' with no luck on my end. I also thoroughly investigated the Intel website for your motherboard model # and that doesn't show up either at least not as written by you. I did find on the Japanese Intel website a model that was very similar tho. It is written as D915GAV, not GVA and the website for reference is very hard to read by most West Europeans and Americans. So my strongest recommendation is to go with the first link to Emachine support. I'm sure they can be of some help to you.
