I tring to refomate the windows xp in Compaq CQ40 but it showing blue screen please help me to formate

    do you have your recovery disc? or a windows cd's?

    A PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED AND WINDOWS HAS BEEN
    SHUT DOWN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER

    CHECK FOR VIRUSES ON YOUR OMPUTER. REMOVE ANY NEWLY INSTALLED HARDRIVE OR HARD DRIVE CONTROLLER CHECK YOUR DRIVE RUN CHKDSK / F TO CHECK FOR DRIVE CORRUPTION THEN RESTART MY COMPUTER... pls help to install win Xp

If the computer is blue screening while you are trying to install windows / format your computer. It is more than likely that you have hardware issues. I would recommend doing some sort of hardware diagnostic on your computer.

    use a windows cd to boot to recovery console or hold the f8 get and if you have the option to enter recovery console.

    do the following

    chkdsk /r

    to run a scan on your hard drive and repair any errors.

Hello Download the SATA driver for your particular chipset. Then download nlite (just google it). Install it and follow the directions to slipstream the driver into your installation disc. You can also add SP3 and all the drivers you need to it.
or go to bios and restore it to default setting if you have a sata hard disk then disable it in bios setting or RAID Auto/Ahci to RAID Auto/ATA then reboot from installation disk or You can get help from this site http://www.laptops-drivers.com/compaq/how-to-install-windows-xp-on-hp-compaq-cq40-115au.html

hi your compaq has its own registered windows xp thats why its performing all that what you need do is that you should get the cd that came with the compaq or you should look for someone that has the exact pc so that you can copy the cd to install

what is on the blue screen, when Windows XP installs, it does so with a screen that is blue in color, Are you updating, or fresh install???

If fresh install, deltel the partition, and reformat it (not Quick format) and try again.

I sorry but I don't think I can help you this time as there is heaps of things that can cause a blue screen, but try reinstalling windows again it may have missed something on the previous loading, On the blue screen there is a number simular to this 0x00000023 if you google this number you may beable to find an answer to your problem Rob

Cannot install xp on my compaq presario cq40-133tu blue screen error may be of sata raid driver
it is not possilble. Try with other XP CD. It will definitely get installed on your PC.
WINDOWS XP REQUIRES MINIMUM OF 128MB OF RAM.

Please do so, your problem will get solved.

Install Vista on cq40-144tu
Take out the hard disk put it on the externaslcase hard disk and format the disk wipe all data from it , and chek the bios seting, put the bios on default seting than you will be able to instal wich OS you want. chek if you have enogh ram for vista , if no put XP not vista. wen you will have more than 1GB  put vista.
