Question about Philips Magnavox 9P6034C 60" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Philips 60 Couldn't get the remote to work in an effort to adjust convergence. Got new remote. it works everything but the convergence. Red is off to the right about 1inch and blue is off to the left. Can't get either to move is there a manual adjustment? I see 3 images and it's driving me crazy. Thanks Jack

i have a phillips hi-def projection screen, 50 inch. i have the same convergence problem that came about out of the blue. i have pink and lime green waving across the screen and cant get all the little crosses to line up. got no help when i tried to contact phillips. they are only interested in selling the new models. i dont want a new model and cant afford one. i like the tv i have now and just want it to work correctly again.

I own a 60PP9401 60 in. Rear projection tv. My red convergance was way out of line. I placed tv in the shop a while back, cost me $300 to get it fixed! Got set home, red still out of line, but not as bad. My...

This set has an advanced menu for adjusting the convergence and what may have happened is the shop adjusted it (It is done with an original Philips remote) and then not SAVED THE ADJUSTMENTS INTO THE SET'S MEMORY.

I can if you have the remote get into the menu and adjust and SAVE the adjustments. If the set is HD the convergence will have to be adjusted two times, once in regular and once in HD.

Let me know if you have questions.

You have a convergence problem. Here are some of the most common symptoms.

Screen looks 3D
One or more colors can't be adjusted when when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed in but stationary.

Solution:
You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kit for your exact model. The kit inlcludes a photo instruction guide, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, etc. Everything you need to fix it yourself. Its an easy fix.

Remote will not adjust red convergence/multi-point horizontally

check resistors around convergence i.c.(red) philips may use 2 resistors in parallell. should be about 1.8 ohms. assuming you already changed the i.c.

My Philips HDTV 60PP9202 has blue and red curved lines

Check to see if you can adjust the convergence. If you can't adjust the red and blue in all directions you need to replace the convergence chips and resistors. If you not sure how to check the convergence goto the site www.TvRepairKits.com and goto the Tips section.

Convergence

If the convergence can't be adjusted with the remote are if a tech comes out and he can't adjust it from the back of the set or the SAM replace the SSM part number 313503710091 that's where the convergence adjustments are done.

Philips 9P6040C 60 in. Rear projection

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Here are some of the most common symptoms.
  • Screen looks 3D
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed in but stationary.

Find a universal remote with a menu and four arrow keys, b/c Philips is out of the original. Or, you could call Philips and find the number for one of their authorized centers - a TV repair man may have a stockpile of them from cust's who abandon their TVs.
