I have a new dell 1545. I was able to connect to the internet for the first few days. I have bought a linksys usb that has given me an extra bar for signal. I have installed a netgear router which has given me full signal but my computer says no internet access. When i click the bars it shows me connected but no interness access. I have never had to type in a password. There is a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside. I have disabled my firewall and still have this problem. I have caught wireless internet in my apartment before. Why am i having this problem now?

Try linking your ethernet cable from your router to your notebook. If it allows you to connect via ethernet port, it definitly your wireless.

1st go into control panel, then Network and settings, then Manage wireless networks. Remove all other wireless networks on your computer apart from the one you are trying to connect to.

Once this is done, Go back to your control panel, Network and internet, then click connect to a network. Disconnect from the network you are connected to and then reconnect. This should solve your problem, please let me know how you get on and if you need any further assistance, please rate it this was of any help, thanks

lets say you said, I have W7 install media,
on DVD or USB stick
w7 does not fit on any CD ever.
so if you dont have the optional DVD drive there,
then its hopeless there, and then the stick USB works.
what you do is boot to the windows 7/10, usb stick you must make on a working PC, the ISO file is free at microsoft.
but you must buy a COA key later (30 day time)
w7 must be bought up front, no free loads at MS for W7.

the first PC sold this model can not boot to USB
so you must update bios to version A14
per
as DELL tells you here

https://www.dell.com/community/Laptops-General/Unable-to-boot-from-USB-in-Inspiron-1545/td-p/4219287

next time tell the helper what you are doing or attempting
we cant guess the 1million things folks do to any computer made.

I see the BIOS updates are now long gone too. on this old PC.
just so you know, that.

My Friend bought a Dell insparian 1545 laptop and one day a cup of tea feel down on touch pad integrated mouse. Touchpad mouse stopped working after that. She had bought the laptop on 10th December, 2009....

She will have to take it to a repair shop and have the touchpad replaced. This is going to cost her about $200, since the warranty has expired a few days ago. Unless of course she had got extra warranty, in that case it will be free.

We have 2 laptops on the same table with the same internet connection. one of them(which is new and a dell) doesnt have any internet connections and cant find any near us.

Hi! First of all try and find the wireless switch. I can be in many places, but if this laptop is new you should find some information in manual. Please let us know if the problem was solved by flipping the switch. Have a nice day

Can I download modem on dell laptop

Most of the time on laptops if there is no phone input for a modem you cannot just plug in and dial up. The process i use at home for my pc is dialing through my cell phone. If your carrier will allow you to tether your phone without extra charges check your phone manufacturers website for modem software. You then just connect your phone through a usb cable and set a internet connection matching your carriers instructions. Another solution is dificult without networking knowledge but you can set up a home pc with a wireless antennae as a ad-hoc server through internet connection sharing and then allow your laptop to connect through the "server" pc.

My dell inspiron 1545 wont connect to linsys-g

Your laptop may have a pre-defined Ip address locked in for your work connection. Did your buddy use the laptop at your place of employment, or was it used at his home? Sometimes an ip is entered manually in the tcp/ip menu locking it to a certain address. To check this opem metwork connections in control panel and right click your wireless device then choose properties and left click. Scroll to the TCP/IP line and go to properties. Make sure everything thereis set to automatic.

I just need to know where the printer USB is for Dell inspiron 1545? I know it seems a stupid question but I am frustrated and need to use printer.

If you're confused where to connect the printer, you can connect your USB printer into ANY working USB ports of the computer.

Make sure that the printer driver is installed correctly.

Please let me know if you have more questions

Have a great day!

Used to be able to connect using WRT310N

You should call Linksys tech support now. The router needs to be configured manually. The tech that you hired maybe not familiar on how to configure the Linksys router.

I just bought a Linksys router WRT150N this evening. I have a Dell router that is problematic. My modem and existing router are on one side of the house , my Dell desktop on the other with "no"...

If you have an extra PCI slot on your PC, you can purchase a wireless card for it, and it is fairly simple to install. You can also purchase USB based wireless adapters for your desktop. This also assumes that the router and the PC are not too far apart, but as long as you could get a signal using say a laptop, you should also be able to get it using the PCI or USB adapter.

Good Luck,

James
