PT-AE 900U LAMP GOES OFF

Hi, my PT-AE 900U has been through use with a wood stove in the living room and shut off several times because of the heat. It also growels now and used to be quite. I think the hours may be up on the projector and tried to find a bulb but looks like the cheapest one was $300. My question is....can i take off the back and try cleaning it because it still works when you turn it on, (for a little while then goes off) so it hasn't gone out completely,so i thought maybe it's dirty. If you think i need to replace the bulb where could i possibly get it cheapest and who do you recommend putting it in, or is this something i may be able to do myself? Thank you so much.

I recently ordered a new bulb, but the projector makes a bunch of noise then turns off after ~10 min. Does this mean I need to re-set the lamp hour counter? If so how do i do this as I'm afraid i threw away the instructions.
    Thanks!

Mine has had Iris problems since brand new, and is requiring a second Iris replacement (after 300hrs use) which I reckon could be either a batch or design fault.

The symptom requiring Iris replacement is that the unit goes black after a few minutes requiring you to power off at mains for 30 seconds before restarting. It has got so bad, I have to power cycle 6-8 times before I can get it to stay on indefinitely (without going black).

Does it stay on for about 10 minutes, then shut down? If so, that is indcating the lamp is near end of life, according to an hour counter built into the system.

The growling is probably the Dynamic Iris which has had a lot of issues. Mine started making noise after about 1 yr 9 months of ownership/use. Since I bought it with an AmEx card which doubles manufacturer warranty, I was able to send AmEx the quote, and they sent me a check, and I got it fixed.

The cheapest place I found for a replacement lamp is through one of the 2 or 3 sellers on ebay; I bought one last week for $260 delivered. Lamp is very easy to replace, but then follow instructions for resetting the lamp hour counter, or the unit will still think the lamp is near end of life.

Outdoor Wood Stove Hot Air or Hot Water

You're getting a new wood stove and you have many decisions to make. Other than brand, you need to decide whether you will use hot air or hot water to get the heat from the wood stove to the living space.

If you have a hot water heating system already installed then you obviously need to have a water stove. If you are thinking about what to install in a new home or already have hot air then you need to consider what will be the best option for you.

Now if you are installing a new system then you want to go hot water. That is by far the best way of heating and will be the best way to heat using an outdoor wood stove. Hot water heating is one of the best ways to get great heat transfer from the fire to the water to the air.

If you have hot air heat and want to heat with wood then you can install a wood hot air furnace, and set it beside your existing furnace. The ductwork will have to be reworked to get the heat from the wood furnace to the existing ductwork. Or you can install a coil into the ductwork on the supply side of the furnace, for the water to run through from a hot water wood burner. This is probably the best way to heat if you have a hot air furnace. Installing the hot water coil is a very simple process and the piping is fairly easy to hookup.

Hot air wood furnaces are almost always a inside the structure appliance, which means that you have the mess of the wood and the ashes inside. This dust and dirt mess is something that is much better kept outside where it can be cleaned up much easier.

Bottom line here is that you want to use a hot water wood burning stove if you can. You will be much happier with the heat that you get from burning wood.

Alternative Heating Pellet Stoves and Pellet Inserts

Pellet stoves usually use wood pellets as their primary heat source. A pellet stove is defined as a stove that burns either compressed wood or biomass pellets to make heat to warm a home or other space.

Pellet stoves come as either free-standing units or fireplace pellet inserts which can be vented into an existing chimney. As an insert, you are able to replace your wood burning stove with this efficient and cost effect stove. Inserts also give the homeowner more of the look of a fireplace than that of a pellet stove. Pellet inserts can also be a great alternative for people who have busy lifestyles and are looking to get the beauty of a fire but prefer a cleaner burning renewable heat source.

Pellet stoves are freestanding structures that can give you the feeling that an old pot bellied stove did, tucked into a corner of a living room, den, or kitchen. Either the pellet inserts or freestanding stoves are a great alternative heating solution for keeping a house warm during the winter.

Many stove manufacturers recommend the using a corn and pellet mixture, but some are UL listed for many fuels other than pellets. These can include wheat, corn, sunflower seeds, and cherry pits.

Pellet stoves are a bit more efficient, burn cleaner, and are easier to use than conventional wood burning stoves. Pellet stoves often look very similar to wood stoves or fireplace inserts, however the similarities end there.

If you are considering burning alternative fuels then you will want to look into a pellet stove as a great way to heat your home. Pellet stoves and pellet insets have many great advantages over regular wood stoves that make them a practical heat for busy lifestyles.

Wher to find drawings for metters canberra no2 wood stove

As a farmer's son in Shepparton, Victoria, we have always had a Metter woodstove/cooktop combination that provided heat as well as cooking food. I guess there are a lot of Metters stove still around since the founder, Frederick Metter, started his production of stoves in Adelaide in 1891. Although it was just a wood stove to us without taking much notice of its history, we still have one at our old farm homestead. But I could help you find what you want by contacting the retailer of these stoves, it all depends where you live, and you could find even spare parts for your stove, or from there you could continue with your research by asking the dealer for information. Metter wood stoves are great winter warmers but can turn a kitchen into a sauna bath in summer, unless you have large windows to allow cool outdoor air to enter the room. Here is the link...

How do i get even heat thru out the house with a daka wood stove

http://www.hearth.com/talk/categories/main-hearth-forums.4/
You burn wood, and smoke goes up flueway.
You're not running chimney smoke through ductwork so you have a heat exchanger.
What kind of heat exchanger?
probably air since you're running through ductwork?
How much hot air or hot water is coming off heat exchanger?
How big of a space can be heated with that amount of heat?
Is the exchanger located in optimal location?

Considerations.
One room log cabin with fireplace will not stay very warm.
One room house with big wood burning stove in center, with hot flue pipe running across the room and exiting on far wall, will get warm-hot, but will cool off fast.
Why?
Because the BTU output of firewood is much less than electric, coal, oil, or gas.
Otherwise they would have made wood-burning steam locomotives. But the locomotive boiler cannot get hot enough with wood ... the boiler needs coal to produce enough BTUs to boil water fast enough to rotate the turbine and turn the wheels.

Maybe your wood stove output should be measured.
Don't forget a huge percentage of fire heat goes straight up flueway.

How do I get wood stov in the Chimney?

With a wood stove or vent type chimney it is easy, just take a section of chimney out and insert the heater. With a brick chimney you may have room to put the heater in from inside the house. If not, lower the heater down the chimney.

ChimneyHeaters.com Chimney Heat Exchanger
Hi. I also have the toyo stove and that combined with one of these Heat exchangers will heat a 2000 sq/ft House to the point that you have to open the windows in winter.

I got mine at Chimneyheaters.com but I am sure there are of lots of places that have them.

Panasonic PTAE 900U with new lamp and counter reset shut off

Reseat the lamp.  I had a similar problem.  Replaced the lamp and everything worked for about 3 hours.  Then, turned the projector off.  Next morning, when I turned it on, nothing.  Stanby/On light flashed green for a minute then the lamp light came on and the projector went into standby.
