Most likely the gas won't come on if the igniter is bad.

You have answered this question before but does the ignitor stay on during the drying cycle? Kenmore series 80, model 110 72822101 gas, It starts correctly, ignitor glows, gas ignites, run for 5 to 6 min....

Hi,
yes..

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heatingthe most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glowssometimes it is still not working properly. if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip.... If you have an electric dryer, you can have many differentthings that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat. check outthis electric no heat tip...

Whirlpool dryer(LGQ9557HQ0), ignitor ignites but flame does not light

mounted on top of the gas vavlve is black electrical coils when energized it opens the gas valve,if one of the coils are defective it wont open and let the gas thru, its hard to test the coils so most repairmen just replace them all

Our Maytag model dg410 quit ingniting. Is it ignitor or something else?

Power from the control Klixon mounted on the blower housing energizes the gas valve assembly when the temp is below 105f and the dryer is set for heat. If that control is open then no power is applied and no heat. If a restriction causes the dryer to exceed 350 for some reason then the fuse next to the control Klixon melts. No power will get to the gas assembly but the dryer will run. On that gas assembly is an ignitor/flame detect sensor, an ignitor, and a pair of solenoids that open the gas valve. The flame sensor must have continuity. If it is open then no power will get to the ignitor. If the ignitor is broken you will also have nothing. The coils will not open the valve without a change in the resistance of the circuit. One of them coils has 3 wires and the other has 2. The sequence of gas valve operation is the flame sensor bi-metal has to open when the temp exceeds 1800f. this kills the power to the ignitor and flips the 3 wire coil so that the ignitor is now a thermocouple and the coils will yank open the gas valve. As long as that ignitor stays hot then the gas will continue to flow out the valve. If for some off reason the gas were not to ignite the ignitor would coold down and shut off the gas and that is your builtin safety. So what goes wrong? Blown thermal fuse, open control Klixon, open flame detect/sensor, open ignitor, or Intermittent coils,(the coils will get hot and quit with age.

Dryer is not heating up it runs does the ignitor heat up before gas valve opens because the ignitor never heats up

On my gas appliances, either there is a pilot light or the ignitor sparks (like a car spark plug) or glows after the gas valve opens. The ignitor does not heat up.

I've had some gas appliances that have had the valve stick. (On an oven, we tested this by tapping on the valve when the unit should have called for gas. This confirmed that the valve was bad and not the thermostat.)

I hope this helps.

No heat in gas dryer..replaced the ignitor..worked..then when he pushed it back into place it quit heating..the ignitor is lighting up but it is now not getting gas...and we have gas in the tank

If the ignitor glows then shuts off but does not lite (it will do this over and over) then the problem is one of the coils on the gas valve is not working. The coil kit is easy to replace the part number is 12001349 and should run about $30.00. They secure to the top of the gas valve just in front of the ignitor you replaced.

If the ignitor continues to glow and does not turn off then the part you need is the sensor part number Y303377 which mounts to the burner box real close to the ignitor and runs about $25.00

I hope this helps.

Not heating up Gas Dryer

Modern gas dryers do not have a pilot light. They have an electronic ignitor (glow or spark). A glow ignitor turns on several seconds before the gas turns on and should get orange hot. A spark ignitor should make a clicking or buzzing noise.

Most likely the ignitor is bad but you can check it fairly easily to make certain. The best instructions I have found are at

http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/dryer/gdryer/check/ignitor.php

If it is the ignitor it can be replaced with a few hand tools. Remove the bad ignitor. Write down the make, model, and serial # of your dryer. Call your local appliance parts store to see if they have one it stock before driving over there.

Have a Whirlpool Gas Dryer - model # lgr7646a spins but no heat

Thre is no pilot light. This dryer uses an ignitor (glow bar or coil).
Open the lower front "door" (small access door) and turn on dryer.
If the ignitor does not glow (bright orange), then the ignitor needs to be replaced ($60).
If it does glow, then the gas valve needs replacement ($60).
If it isd the valve, the internal spring is stuck. Do not try to repair it, you must replace it.

Gas dryer wont heat up, blows only cold air.what would cause this

Could be a bad hi limit thermostat. Could be a bad glowbar ignitor. Check the glowbar ignitor at the gas valve, is it glowing bright orange/red? If not. Replace the ignitor.

Roper gas dryer does not heat.

If the ignitor is not powering , go to the switch. That has to send power to the ignitor, then on to the gas valve.

GE gas dryer, no heat, new ignitor

Hi!! make sure that you have 120 volts going to the glow ignitor.the gas valve will not turn on the gas if the ignitoe wont glow..if it glows the check yout coil boosters they are round and are located by the gas valve.then if not you have a bad timer.they are usually round and are black..good luck..
