Question about Mitsubishi VS-50605 50" Rear Projection Television

Split screen and dark colors

I have this TV since 2000 and I just love it. Recently it has start doing horizontal split screen and it goes back and forth between color (DARK) and black&white. Any suggestion?

Good Day, scharania;
Try all of these: 1).HORIZONTAL PULLING AND TEARING, MAY ALSO HAVE VERTICAL ROLLING OR VERTICAL BLANKING BAR LOCKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PICTURE. CHECK C2C52 10 UFD @ 50 V OFF THE BASE OF Q2C51 ON THE SIGNAL PCB. 2. CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 (9-VOLT REGULATOR) ON THE SIGNAL PCB. 2). CHECK C2P08 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P03 (3.2 VOLT REGULATOR) ON THE SIGNAL PCB. 3).
CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB. Good Luck, big IRISH.

My Sony KP-57WS500 TV has curved horizontal white lines. You only see them when there is something dark on the screen. Any ideas?

You have 3 CRTs inside of your TV that create image. Blue, Green and Red. Looks like one of them need adjustment due aging.
Remove front grille. Than remove center "shielding" piece held by 4-5 screws. Behind this cover you will find little black plastic box that have 6 rotating buttons on it. Take you time to study them. There is three columns and two rows. Columns represent color, rows - "Focus" or "Screen". You need to locate "Screen" row of three rotating buttons. They will be marked "B', "G", and "R" for colors accordingly. Turn on TV let it warm up and try to figure out witch color is dominating others on your screen. Then carefully turn rotating adjuster counterclockwise using Philips screwdriver. Try to muscle-remember original position of screwdriver so you can turn it back to it.
Eventually you will find the right one, you will see lines dissapear when you reduce voltage and reappear when you turn rotating shaft back. Sometimes more than one have to be adjusted.
Try to have all three color to be present and visible but with no over saturating and no horizontal lines.
Put cover and grill back - and that's should do it!
Regards.
Russ.

The brightness is very dark. Any nightime scene

Your CRT's getting old. Plus dust on lenses don't help much. You have to open front frill (below screen) and back of the TV. Clean up lenses using dry paper towels, do not wet.
In front of the TV after grill remove center cover and locate "black box" that have 6 potentiometers on it that looks like plastic adjustment screws for philips #2 screwdriver slots. 3 of them should read "Focus" These you don't touch. Another 3 reads "Screen". Put some still image on your screen (like paused DVD movie frame). Carefully add brightness in all 3 colors trying to avoid horizontal lines appearance. If lines show up, just turn it back a little. Try to keep color balance looking at the picture.
This procedure will brighten up image but further reduce CRT's life.

In case that you posted wrong model here and you have DLP Projection TV - just replace the lamp.

The convergence board is shot you going to need a new board as the horizontal ic's have given out. Reapiring this would take expertise and cost you more then its worth then just get a new convergence board. Thanks and please do rate.

Colors splitting.

max, go into "video menu" and find "convergence set-up", follow the on screen directions. Basically you want to move the "red" onto the green and then the "blue" onto the other two and the cross will turn white, once it turns white it is re-converged and your done, note: If any of the red or blue adjustments do not function then the set needs convergence circuit repaired, questions? e-mail me back, otherwise Happy New Year, BMW Rider

No Picture

Did you have color problems in past? Most of these sets have convergence problems. Amps goes out. But you should have seen some type of distortion from color, red, blue, green. If no color problems then maybe vertical ouput out or horizontal output bad.
