you need to bridge, yes the other thing you need to do, is right click on the internet connection and say "Allow other computers to connect to the internet via this connection" this should allow the ps3 to grab an IP address via DHCP
it sounds like u should try going wireless through the internet and cut out the laptop from the situation if u know how to fix the ps3 error 80710102 it will be helpful
Your PS3 should have WiFi built in unless you bought he 20GB version back when it first came out, that is the only one that dosn't have WiFi. But you can still connect it the way you want. You can use any type of ethernet cable, straight through or crossover. You need to go into your network connections in the control panel, select wired and wireless connection at the same time and bridge them. That should do it if you wanna go that route but you would have to have the computer on anytime you wanted to connect your ps3 to the internet. The best bet I think would be to just use the WiFi built into the PS3
try moving ur ps3 closer 2 ur router dat should make da connection stronger. but another thing is wen da internet router is used by too many appliances certain ones for example ur ps3's internet becomes weaker. i hope dis helped=)
I once had the same problem. What i did is that i booted the modem and the Ps3 (turned both off) and then turned them on. Then i went to the internet settings on the Ps3 and tried the internet connection check and it worked! I hope you have some help of this.
First you need to find a Windows wired or wireless device already connected to the network in order to find out the required settings
Windows XP 1. Click start --> (sometimes settings) --> Control Panel --> Network Connections 2. Double click on the active connection which will say connected underneath 3. Click Support 4. Click Details 5. Now the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Primary DNS and Alternate DNS which are displayed should be noted.
Windows Vista 1. Click Start --> Control Panel --> Network and Sharing Center 2. Click on "View Status" to the right of your connection 4. Click Details 5. Now the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Primary DNS and Alternate DNS which are displayed should be noted.
Set these values under "manual settings" in the PS3 but add 1 to the last number for the IP Address as this has to be unique on your network
