What is the impact of GST on MSME sectors?

Like every other sector GST implications on MSMEs can be both positive and negative. Let us check both positive and negative implication of GST on the MSME sector:

  • Positive Impact:
  • Unified Taxation: Earlier SMEs had to face multiple taxation procedures, a complete time-consuming process. But with the GST implication, there is a uniform taxation making it easier pay tax. In order words, GST will help doing business with neutral tax.
  • Negative Impact:
  • Burden of Higher Tax Rate: Earlier, MSMEs had to pay service tax of 15% which is now increased to 18%. This is certainly an increase in the burden of higher tax payment. This burden will further fall on end consumer as the price of the product or service will increase.
  • Low Tax Limit: Earlier, MSME earning above Rs 1.50 crore was placed under tax bracket, but under GST, the limit has dropped to Rs 20 lakh which is a huge blow for the sector.

How are taxes, if any, calculated in a pro forma?

I assume that you are creating a pro-forma for others to use. Very simply, you could offer a cell that asks the user to nominate the applicable tax rate for their tax jurisdiction, or, if you know (or assume the value), place that into a cell then multiply the taxable amount by 1+the tax rate, ie I buy shoes for $4 and have a 10% tax rate. Multiply the price of the shoe by 1.04 and you have the final price, inclusive of taxes.

Usually all fees and charges are applied before the taxes are calculated., but check your local tax rules because some government levied charges may not be taxable.

What is mean by tax and service tax

TAX:

A fee charged ("levied") by a government on a product, income, or activity. If tax is levied directly on personal or corporate income, then it is a direct tax. If tax is levied on the price of a good or service, then it is called an indirect tax. The purpose of taxation is to finance government expenditure. One of the most important uses of taxes is to finance public goods and services, such as street lighting and street cleaning. Since public goods and services do not allow a non-payer to be excluded, or allow exclusion by a consumer, there cannot be a market in the good or service, and so they need to be provided by the government or a quasi-government agency, which tend to finance themselves largely through taxes.

SERVICE TAX

Service Tax is a form of indirect tax imposed on specified services called "taxable services". Service tax cannot be levied on any service which is not included in the list of taxable services. Over the past few years, service tax been expanded to cover new services. The objective behind levying service tax is to reduce the degree of intensity of taxation on manufacturing and trade without forcing the government to compromise on the revenue needs. The intention of the government is to gradually increase the list of taxable services until most services fall within the scope of service tax. For the purpose of levying service tax, the value of any taxable service should be the gross amount charged by the service provider for the service rendered by him.

How do i find out how much taxes were paid on a amount of 2553.12 and the tax rate was 8 percent

8% =8/100 =0.08

Your question is not clear so I have to consider the two possibilities.

A. First case
2553.12 is the taxless price (may not be your actual case)
Simple tax (to be) paid =2553.12*0.08=204.25

B Second case:
2553.12 is the total price (including the tax) and you want to find out the tax that was paid on it.

In this case 2553.12 is (1+0.08) the sale price
The tax-less price is given by
2553.12/(1.08) =2364.00
and the tax paid is 2553.12-2364.00=189.12

Examine the two cases and find the one that corresponds to your situation. Whichever it may be, your solution is here.

Help please

hi lilwallace;
The federal excise tax of 8% on the round trip ticket is calculated by multiplying 8% times the price of the ticket. Remember 8% is written as .08 when we multiply.
$832 times .08 = $66.56 is the excise tax

$832 times .06 = $49.92 is the sales tax

Now we just add the ticket price plus the excise tax and the sales tax and we get $832 + $66.56 + $49.92 = $948.44

Hope this helps Loringh PS Please leave a rating for me.. Thanks
