Question about E-Machines eMachines Desktop PC

2 Answers

GOOGLE I spend most of my time on computer trying to delete GOOGLE pop-ups. I never use it and it interferes with almost everything I do. In fact it happens when I am not searching--I use Yahoo for everything, I've done everything I've been told to do about disconnecting GOOGLE and it has not helped at all. Please help so I can enjoy using the computer without so many interruptions. Thank you. Patricia Krejca

What do you mean by "disconnecting Google?" I'd think the Google program could be uninstalled the same as any other program. How that's done depends upon which OS you are using.

Turn off pop up blocker

Turn Off Pop-Up Blockers on My Computer
Surfing the Internet and constantly being bombarded with pop-up ads can be extremely annoying. For this reason, most computer users enable a pop-up blocker.
Occasionally, however, you run across a website that offers information that you need and it is blocked by the pop-up blocker.
When this happens you need to disable the pop-up blocker. You can disable the pop-up blocker for all websites or just for specific ones.

Launch Internet Explorer.
Click on the "Tools" drop-down menu.

Scroll down, click "Pop-up Blocker" and choose "Turn Off Pop-Up Blocker."
Turn off pop-ups for specific sites by completing steps 1 and 2.
Then, instead of choosing to turn off pop-ups, choose "Pop-Up Blocker Settings."
Add sites to block or remove sites from the list that are being blocked.
Turn Off Pop-Ups Blocker in Toolbars
Even though you may have your pop-ups turned off in Internet Explorer, if you have a toolbar installed on your computer it can still block pop-ups.
The most commonly installed toolbars are the Yahoo toolbar and Google toolbar.
Click on the drop-down menu next to the pop-up blocker button to disable the pop-up blocker in the Yahoo toolbar. Select "Disable pop-up blocker."
Click the "Options" button on the Google toolbar. In "Accessories," clear the box next to the pop-up blocker option.

I have been trying to get on facebook but everytime I try an error message from Internet Explorer pops up saying "cannot display webpage" Please help

Open Internet Explorer, click on tools then internet options. In the first tab, under browsing history select delete... have check marks in everything except Form data, Passwords, and InPrivate Filtering data. Now click delete. Depending on how full you histroy is, this can take a bit to complete. Once completed, close IE and try to log back into facebook. If this still does not work, search for facebook on google, and try again. If the search option works, delete you current shortcut to facebook and re-add from the open page.

I hope this helps

About a month ago I lost all my pictures, favorites and had to reload my Norton. Everything is still in the computer somewhere, only I don't know what happened or how to find and get them back. Please help...

You can often successfully recover deleted files from a PC, it all depends on what has happened since the files were deleted.
When you delete files the data itself isn't deleted, just the index entry that tells the system where the data for those files is located. The area containing the deleted data is also now marked as free space so it is available for any new files to be written there instead.

If and when that happens, then it is too late to recover your deleted files so it is very, very important to not save any new files or data to the device concerned.

One of the easiest ways to see if you can recover deleted files is to try some good file recovery software. One I used to use is this data recovery program which you can download from site below

My H/P Athlon S3023W computer won't boot.

If nothing at all happens when you press the on button maybe your powersupply has blown a fuse.

If this looks like it you can buy them fairly cheaply from a electronics store. But you may want to make sure before you spend the money.

Take your old one in and they may even test if for you.
Just make note of where all the cables are before you take them off.

Don't open the power supply to try and fix it. There are deadly voltages inside even when it is not plugged in. (compacitors inside hold a charge for quite some time)

If you still see lights on the PC perhaps your screen has a problem
Try a different screen if you have one.
