Popped off key on macbook

I accidentally popped the Command key and the scissor hinge behind the key off of my 13'' macbook. The key and the scissor hinge aren't broken I just can't figure out how to put them back on. The nearest Apple store is about 60 miles away from me and I need a Genius Bar appointment to get my key fixed. I was wondering if I could go into a best buy or circuit city to get it fixed by geek squad or firedog.

Sometimes the mechanism actually breaks and the key doesn't snap back in. Then the palmest needs to be replaced. The part is in on ebay and not that expensive, there is a guide that shows you how to replace the macbook palrest.

Well, you can pop the key back in , but you have to line up the hinge part to the 2 joints on the membrane. If you're not sure, make the appointment and take thr drive, it's worth not voiding your warranty incase something else costly might happen down the rod. I know its a pain, but if that is the only issue, than you're.

How do I get out of DOS mode on my Macbook Pro?

The Mac does not have a DOS mode to turn off.

It does have a command line mode called 'Single User Mode' where UNIX commands can be executed. Get into SUM by holding Command S at startup.

To go back to the Mac OS X interface, type 'reboot' and press the Return key.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

What is the s key and apple key

The S key is the letter key adjacent to the A, D, W, and X keys. The "Apple" key is more commonly know as the Command key, you will find it between the spacebar and the Ctrl key on a Macbook.

White screen of death on Macbook 13". when turning

You may need to reset the PRAM.
Start your computer and hold down the option, command (apple), P and R keys simultaneously until you hear the second chime. Then release.

This will reset the perimeter RAM (PRAM) and may allow your system to start, which it will do immediately if it capable.
If this is not the case and you have already tried removing the RAM and the HD, you may need to have the motherboard tested.

Keycaps for Apple laptops can be purchased from
http://www.pbparts.com/
From your posting, it sounds like you may not be aware of the proper way to reattach Apple keycaps. There is an underlying scissor mechanism that must be assembled properly for the keycap to stay on. Just pushing the cap on won't reattach it. The website indicated provides directions.

I have a mac book and two of the keys have popped off. Can they be put back on and How do I do that?

Placing back the keys is not possible manually except that you stick it, and thats the worst thing you would do. if you have an apple service center nearby, get it serviced by them as they need to open the lower case of the macbook to do that.
Btw is it Macbook or Macbook Pro? Because macbook pro has a unibody which can not easily get the keys back into position if they popped off.

Delete key on macbook pro won't work

you may have inadvertently set up a keyboard short cut on the delete key... go to your system preference app in the dock. Then select keyboard shortcuts... if you select "default" at the bottom of the window it will revert to the factory shortcuts and eliminate any you may have accidentally created...
Hope that solves your delete issue...

Random Flashes on Macbook 13" native screen

you could try reseting the pram. this is accomplished by holding down Command, Option, P, and R at startup you will want to hear the start up tones at least three times. if that doesnt work you might have an inverter issue, the inverter is located behind the screen and needs to be looked at by a pro
