Top Burr Stuck on Smart Grinder Pro - How can i remove it ?

Safety Tip: To prevent any potential mishaps, ensure sure your grinder is fully off and unplugged before using it. Also, if you haven't used it in a while, make sure it's cool to the touch.
Let the Bean Hopper open. Take off the bean hopper from your grinder's top. This is going to reveal the top burr.
Take the Upper Burr Carrier Off: An upper burr carrier is usually used to hold the top burr in place. It is necessary to take out the upper burr carrier. Depending on the kind of your grinder, the precise procedure may change, but generally speaking, it entails undoing a few screws or tabs that secure it. In general, follow these steps:
a. Check the upper burr carrier for any visible screws or tabs. Usually, they're close to the edges.
b. To release the tabs or loosen the screws, use the proper equipment (usually a screwdriver). To prevent breaking the grinder, use gentleness.
c. After the upper burr carrier is released from its locking mechanism, carefully pull or slide it out.
Lift Out the Top Burr: The top burr can now be removed after the upper burr carrier has been taken out. The burr might be secured in place by tiny clips or notches, so proceed with caution and gentleness.
Clean and Maintain: After removing the top burr, you can give the grinder and its parts a thorough cleaning. Make sure you adhere to the cleaning and maintenance guidelines provided by the manufacturer. This often entails cleaning the grinder's parts, brushing off coffee grinds, and correctly reassembling it.
Reassemble: Carefully put the grinder's parts back together in the opposite order after cleaning. Verify that the upper burr carrier is correctly positioned and that all screws and tabs are firmly in place.
Plug in and Test: After the grinder has been put back together, plug it in and make sure it is operating properly.

How to reset the grinder burrs?

I took the grinder apart and found to have to replace the two metal grinding tools (inside cone and outside ring.
The parts for it were quite cheap. Just get yourself a proper instruction how to do it and follow it religiously. There are marks left by Jura engineers to calibrate the grinder assembly. Changing the actual grinder bits inside does not alter these if put together in the same position. The calibration is essential for a decent taste. After 7 years I would recommend a full service anyway. This will not be cheap, but all seals get replaced or just the brewing unit and the machine will be physically cleaned inside. Only a clean machine will give a decent taste. And the usual cleaning and de-scaling you can do is not enough to maintain a squeaky clean machine over the period of a few 1000 cups of coffee.

Barista burr grinder,

Check the paddle wheel under the lower (conical) burr. You should be able to see vertical paddles that move the ground coffee. If any are broken or missing (very common if you've used rice intead of Grindz to clean the burrs) you need a new paddle wheel, which you can buy from Baratza.

Have a grinder and it is full of coffee and stuck. It seems the beans were more oily and now I am trying to figure out how to clean it out. Please help

  • Try to grind all the beans through.
  • Put some uncooked rice inside the hopper and grind it, it is very good at cleaning if you don't have Grindz. Get Grindz if you can to grind and clean the burrs.
  • Try to take the grinder apart and brush off and clean off the burrs by hand.

Cleaning burrs of oily residue

Hi
There are many ways to clean oily residue from your burrs. You can order a grinder cleaning tablet from online stores called Grinds by Urnex. Some people use white rice but if you don't get it all out you will have rice in your coffee. You can take them apart and clean them manually but if you don't reassemble it correctly you will not get a good grind. I think the easiest way is to get some cheap light roasted beans ( doesn't matter if they are old ) but never use shiny beans because shiny beans have lots of oil.
Set the grinder to a very coarse setting, on a Rocky 7 higher that you currently use. You can turn it to a larger # any time but it has to be grinding to turn it to a lower #. Pour a cup of cleaner (beans, or rice) into the bean hopper and turn the grinder on. Grind the whole hopper through the machine. If you use grinds just a couple of #'s higher is all you need. Once you have cleaned the burrs you will need to grind some of you beans to purg the cleaning debris for the burrs and chamber. When you see no more cleaning compound you can turn the hopper back to where it was leaving the motor run. Once you get it back test with your beans.

Severe clogging

Try using long grain white rice works better than minute rise, if that does not help, then the burrs need to be replaced on grinder.

Grinder is slipping.

  1. take out bean container
  2. disassemble 3 philips screws and take plastic out
  3. rotate the knob to try to get out the upper holder of burr. if it does not rotate than disasemble the knob and the gears(plastic big one is attached to upper holder of grinder, the other is together with knob.
  4. tru to rotate it manualy, with help of extra srews puted in gear holder holes.
  5. when you get it out, carefuly clean it, look for metal parts and stones(wich sometime comes with coffee)
  1. turn on the grinder and attach gently one marker to lower burr during spining. after you stop grinder, look if it is perfect circle marked in burr. if it is not than marked side is higher. you should consider getting it ok by putting adhesive paper under lower burr and check it again.
good luck and carefuly.
