I got the same problem. It worked fine, then sudently stoped. I have tried on two pc's. no responds what so ever, I can get the battary to recharge but that just it. my pc's just cant see anything like there is nothing connected. So I got to lisen to my five albums I had when it worked. anyway. in order for me to recharge the battery I need to connect it to usb then have to turn the mp3 off and then press the hold button, only then can I recharge with the full effect. I also noticed that the only way to open my music on the mp3 itselv it thought the browsing, when I click on artist or music, nothing shows up.

Pretty much the same as above. Just stopped working properly one day. No communication with player and comp. Doesn't always charge when I plug it in. Have to browse for the music already on there.

Exactly the same problem. Downloading that programme doesn't help. It just says that there are no drivers for the mp3 player and to fix the problem you have to register the programme

I've had various issues similar to those described, and can offer the following trouble-shooting and/or work-around tricks that I've had success with:

Sometimes, when I come to use it I find that it won't turn on at all, but it's most likely because it's been a while (several weeks) since the last time that I used it.  The battery does seem to lose its charge over this time.  All I do is to charge it up for several hours, (or even overnight).  It usually charges best by leaving the unit OFF when plugging in the USB cable to the PC, just like a cell phone does.

As for the problem with the PC recognizing it, sometimes it just takes a few minutes. I have winXP.
First, open MyComputer.  If the mp3 player doesn't show up as another drive after about 60 seconds, press the F5 key to 'refresh'.  Sometimes closing MyComputer, then re-opening it makes a difference, too.  You might also want to try a different USB connection, like using one in the back of the PC instead of the front (or vice-versa).

Sometimes, though, it doesn't hurt to just press the RESET button at the bottom side (6 o'clock position when holding it upright and facing you).  With it turned ON, I insert a paper clip that's been partially straightened out, holding it in for about 3 seconds.

Good luck!

I had the same thing with my yp z5f as cristaal wrote.
I could not recharge it for 2 days, and the pc didn't find it.
I tought it is over, i have to give up.
Then, I did the same as trystan44 suggested, and it worked!
So I connected it to the pc, turned off the appliance, and pressed the hold button.
After about 15 minutes charging I tried to turn it on. Now, it is working with the pc, I can turn
it on without the cable. Thanks for the advice!

Samsung YP-Z5F MP3 player malfunction

I have that kind of Mp3 Player too... that happened to me, but the PC was able to read mine. However, the reason why the message: "Low Battery USB Disabled" appears, is that you still have remaining battery life, but will only last for less than an hour (indicated by low light and red empty battery sign) you have to make sure the Mp3 is completely discharged. (you'll be notified when you turn on the device while it says: "Low Battery") once that it is completely discharged, you can now plug in the USB cable with the device to the PC... if problem persists, check your PC.. can it read the device? Check if a notification balloon appears at the bottom right corner of the monitor screen. It should say, "Found New Hardware... Samsung YP-Z5F..." if it did not appear, try to INSTALL using the Installation CD given when you bought the product. Just insert the disk into the PC and continue on, then when it is already installed and ready for use, plug in the device! This may be a little hard, but this is the only way I know. Feel free to ask me! I am no technician but I know a lot on devices and fine mechanics. Good luck!

My YP-Z5F was working fine until last week, only the On-Off button is working to control On and Off but other buttons won't respond. Even when I switch to hold mode, it doesn't show a lock icon on the...

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
