I dont think and intake gasket will cause lifter noise. It may cause a rough idle and or a miss at idle on cold start up . as the engine warms up the miss or rough idle will decrease . As for the lifter noise this could be cause by the lifter bleeding down or poor oil presure . On your model of engine there is no adjustment on the rocker arms for lifter noise . They are a 0 lash type .

As Ray said, a mechanic is the best bet . A lifter, bad belt , exhaust leak and any rotating pulley can sound similar and you need it narrowed down to exactly what needs fixing .

Valve tap cause

Most engines now use hydraulic lifters and they can leak a little, this causes space between then lifter and the push rod. This results in a tapping noise that goes away when they get warm or fill back up.

If my intake manifold gaskets are leaking will it allow antifreeze to mix with the oil

intake gasket might cause it if the coolant froze and broke the seal between the head and intake and is leaking directly into the lifter valley

I have a 1999 Buick Century V6 3100 that I had to replace the intake gaskets due to antifreeze leaking into and out of the engine. When I had it all apart I noticed the very first lifter #2 cylinder...

If the engine oil was full of antifreeze when the intake gasket went bad, then there is a good chance that there may be some cam and/or lifter damage. A more likely cause of your problem would be that the push rods got mixed up when you put it back together. The intake and exhaust rods are different lengths. If this is the case, and you have turned the engine over, there is a good chance that you now also have a bent pushrod and intake valve. The exhaust pushrod is the longer one and if you mix them up, the piston will contact the intake valve because it will not be able to close due to the longer pushrod. This will bend or break the pushrod and bend the valve stem.

Always low on oil

if it's 5.2 or 5.9 engine, the intake manifold plenum pan gasket may be drawing oil from lifter valley of engine..remove air cleaner and check down inside manifold with throttle plates wide open and look for oil pooling inside intake..if there is oil in there, you to remove intake manifold and replace gasket and bolts holding rectangular pan to bottom of intake..you will need intake gaskets as well..suggest going to dealer for parts..fairly inexpensive as well..i hope this helps
