Whirlpool Quiet Partner Doesn't finish cycle

My machine GU2455GTSQ0 doesnt complete it cycles. When you put it on the normal or light cycle with the heated dry the machine will continuously run until you turn it off manually. On the regular cycle mine gets stuck on 44 min and on the light cycle at 39 min. I have figured out that if you wash only it will get past that time and when you get close the end of the cycle you can push the dry button and it will go on to dry the dishes.

The machine appears to be washing properly just will not switch over from wash cycle to rinse and then dry. We had a repairman look at it and he could not figure out the problem.

Update as of 7/30 I now cannot get it to complete the wash cycle at all and now it is making very loud noise while washing. I have ordered a new electronic control and am hoping that solves the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just purchased Whirlpool Quiet Partner I. On first use I selected the normal cycle, the machine kept on running on the wash cycle for over 2.5 hours. I had to manualy drain the unit. This dishwasher is going back to the store.

Almost like I have the same problem. My dishwasher wash and drain and wash and drain continuously. It never switches to Rinse. But it doesn't make any noises. I hope any of you guys have the solution for this particular problem.

  • Anonymous Mar 08, 2009

Yep, mine too. It kept washing and washing, until I finally realized it wasn't switching to rinse or dry, and turned it off.

But mine is Quiet Partner 1 with a model number DU1055...

  • Klknnthl Mar 10, 2009

The machine won't switch through cycles and must be turned off manually. Other wise it seems to run fine as long as you manually work it through the cycles.

Did you get this fixed? I have the same problem and even the exact times (39mins & 44mins).

My Quiet Partner II is less than a year old. When It was new it ran the wash cycle for a long long time AND the bottom was filled with dirty water when it was finished. I unscrewed the washer from counter top and shook 3 or 4 times untill it finally started operating properly.. that did the trick. Now its making a light but loud grinding noise when it washes.

SOURCE: Soap film on dishes

Hard water "filming" is caused primarily by the higher deposit content in hard water clogging up the jets and nozzles. Therefore, there is not the normal pressure for washing or rinsing. This can be eliminated by turning on the dishwasher, while it is empty, and waiting for it to fill and go into it's wash cycle. They open the door and add 3 cups of white vinegar and finish running through the cycle. This will open the nozzles and jets to their full capacity. After that, use a rinse aid for sure.

SOURCE: whirlpool dishwasher QUIET PARTNER II doesn't

it is not your dishwasher that is the problem it is actually your hard water. the minerals from hard water dry and leave a white/residue. www.dishwasherfilter.com has a new product out just for this annoying problem. it filters out the hard minerals before they enter your dishwasher. it will leave your dishes crystal clean after the first load guaranteed. it is very affordable and comes with a mone back guarnatee also.

My delay light has come on and I cant get the dishwasher to start. The delay light goes out after the time has expired but if you try to move it to the start position the light comes on again

The Control is programmed to stop running and not allow any further cycles if it detects a water heating problem (no temperature increase detected in heated Main Wash on 3 consecutive cycles). The Control will flash the Clean LED 7 times repeatedly and will disable the Start/Resume key until cleared.

To clear and reset the control press in this order: Heated Dry ? Normal ? Heated Dry ? Normal and then let the unit run for 1-2 minutes and then press Cancel and let the dishwasher complete the cancel cycle. The dishwasher should operate normally again unless it does not detect a temperature rise in the main wash cycle.

It could be caused by a Heater circuit problem if it continues to stop and flash the Clean light.

It could have one of the following failures:
Open in heater.
Open connection or component in heater circuit.
Faulty heater drive circuit on control.
It can also be caused by the wash pump not pumping water past the heater efficiently.

Tip

Dishwasher Clean Light Flashing or Blinking Seven Times

Whirlpool and Whirlpool-made Kenmore Dishwashers are equipped with a fault detection feature within the control software to help the user and most especially the technician diagnose a problem when it occurs. One of the common faults is indicated by a pattern of seven (7) flashes or blinks made by the Clean light indicator. It occurs when the control detects a failure in heating up the water to at least two (2) degrees Fahrenheit above the initial temperature during the first eight (8) minutes of the cycle.

The control monitors the temperature of the water both at the start and at the end the first 8 minutes of the cycle. It will not allow the machine to advance to the next cycle if the necessary end temperature of the water is not reached; instead, it will shut down the machine and will not allow the user to operate it unless the error is cleared. But the error will continue to appear until the problem is addressed.

The error can be cleared by pressing the Heated Dry button then the Normal button in sequence twice; that is, Heated Dry, Normal, Heated Dry, Normal. The user will then be able to restart the cycle but the error will eventually come up again and will not get the cycle completely done.

In order to complete the cycle, make sure water is being fed properly to the machine, the washer impeller is not stiff or stuck, and the float bulb is not stuck in the up or full position. Once all of these are ensured, preheat the water to at least 160 degrees or cool it down to below 62 degrees Fahrenheit before feeding it into the machine. These extreme temperatures will bypass the water temperature detection step and automatically proceed to the next step and complete the cycle.

The technique described above is not intended to address the problem which can be a failure of the heating circuit, water system, pump,or wash impeller. But rather to bypass the water temperature detection step and complete the cycle. The user is advised to determine the reason why the water is not able to heat up. Service of a qualified appliance technician is recommended if the user is not technically inclined to perform the necessary troubleshooting and repair. Disconnect power to the machine prior to servicing to avoid the risk of electric shock that may result to physical injury, disability, or even death.

It sounds like you just need to reset the controller. This is done by running (or partially running) a diagnostic cycle, which will clear the error. Here's how to do it: Depending on the model, and the keys you have, press the following sequence of keys quickly (with less that 1 second between key presses:
Heated Dry - Normal - Heated Dry - Normal; or
High Temp - Air Dry - High Temp - Air Dry; or
Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry, Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry; or
High Temp Wash, Heated Dry, High Temp Wash, Heated Dry.
You will know that you have entered the diagnostic cycle when all the lights light up. Let it run for a few minutes, and then press Cancel to stop the diagnostic cycle and clear the error.

Note: On some of the newer Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid dishwashers, you start the diagnostic cycle by rapidly pressing the 3 left-most keys in the following sequence: 1 2 3, 1 2 3, 1 2 3.

I have a Whirlpool Quiet Partner II dishwasher and it is stuck in the clean mode the light continuous blinks

THat means that something is wrong with the water temp. It is either not hot enough when it fills or the heating element that increases the temp it bad. To start the Service Diagnostics Cycle, press the
following keys, in order, in less than 6 seconds, while in standby(power on but unit off):
Heated Dry, Normal, Heated Dry, Normal
To Rapid advance one interval at a time, press the Start key, noting that
unlike Standard cycles, the Diagnostics Cycle automatically resumes
after door openings and does not require pressing Start to resume.

Once the diagnostic cycle has run and shut off, run a normal wash cycle, empty and with no detergent, to reset the control to factory "normal" operation. Make sure there's plenty of hot water.

I have a Kenmore elite dishwasher M#665.13419k701, when you run the cycle it shuts off after about 10 seconds and the normal wash light blinks. what can i check??? Thanks. Israel

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

I understand by reading your post which indicates it is a Kenmore dishwasher you appear to have a concern with the cycle interuopting and the "normal" light flashing.

I'd suggest you first try entering a diagnostic/test...to do so is as follows. Press the following buttons in this sequence...

HEATED DRY - NORMAL, HEATED DRY - NORMAL, HEATED DRY - NORMAL

This diagnostic may take approx. 15-20 minutes to complete. Let it proceed through to completion and let me know what happens and we can go from there.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Light flashing

reset the dishwasher by touching heated dry and normal let it run through that cycle then through a normal cycle got the error blink again. Reset dishwasher by touching heated dry and normal, ran the test cycle, next ran a normal cycle but turned off the heated dry. This allowed the dishwasher to run through a complete cycle did not get the error blink and confirmed that the heating element was out.

Light flashing

There was a problem with the heating cycle , the seven flashes indicates the temp never reached the setting. You can try running a service cycle that will reset the control, then try running a normal cycle if it stops agin will have to find the part causing the trouble believe they actually came out with a revised heating element on this. to run service cycle press heated dry , normal, heated dry, normal within six sec then the d/w should step through a service cycle.

Clean light keeps blinking and I can't start a new cycle

Puppa, clear the fault by pressing the keys in this order: high temp scrb--air dry--high temp scrub--air dry. Or, depending on your model..Sani rinse--air dry--sani rinse--air dry. The dishwasher will enter the service mode. Let it do it's thing or advance it through it by pressing the start key. The fault came from the board not sensing a rise in the water temp. Make sure to run the hot water before starting the dishwasher. The heating element runs through the nuetral side of the door switch so make sure the d/w is level and the door switches are all making. The element itself could be at fault. Catriver...post back
