Question about Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO (F5D9230-4) Router (1010835)

1 Answer

Cannot connect the belkin wireless router

I have a wireless router belkin g plus mimo and have a laptop which works perfectly fine but I wanted to make my wireless connection more secure so nobody else can access it and to stop intereference from other networks which was causing problems so I went to different places and generated a passphrase for it and had something with inserting the flash disk to save the settings or something and then it didn't work, the next thing i see is a big cross beside the name of the network as I was trying to connect to it but again didn't allow me to connect to it. The next thing i did was to overwrite everything on C:/ drive which previously i had done once had worked without any problems but this time its different- the passphrase that was created had been saved and when i tried to access it the next day it would not let me on until i entered the passphrase but the thing is as i was thinking the other day that it didn't work i had deleted the stuff with overwritibng everything cuz the passphrase was saved on the computer and now I cannot access it at all, still has a cross beside it, can't connect nothing and i don't know the passphrase or anything what should I do ?
Do you think I should reboot the whole comuputer from the very start? but i don;t know how to do it and the overwriting doesn't work which i tried, I haven't got a cd at all when I bought the computer the first time btw its a windows vista home premium. Please help!!!!!!! I would be very grateful if you could help me out with this problem. Thank you.

You do not have to restore you computer, you can still add the network again in your connections list.

first you will have to get the security code in the router

you can do this by going to a computer directly connected to the router then open the router's setu page. you may go to the router's setup page by opening your internet explorer, on the address bar type http://192.168.2.1 (for more information click on the manual below)

http://belkin.httpsvc.vitalstreamcdn.com/belkin_vitalstream_com/support/dl/p74880-d_f5d9230-4_manual.pdf

once you are in the setup page, click the wireless tab then the "security" subtab, you will be able to see your "pre-shared key" which is the security code for your network. now you may try connecting to your network using the key and once you are able to connect your network settings wll again be saved.

hope this helps.

Can a belkin network card f5d7050 work with a belkin g plus mimo router

As MIMO is compatible with all wireless g products there shouldn't be any issues at all....
so some questions:
  • do you have other wireless devices working with the router? if so can you duplicate their settings for this n/w card?
  • have you set security on the router?
  • what are you using to connect to the network the windows interface (assuming it's PC not MAC based) or the Belkin one?
i have a linksys g n/w card attached to my MIMO router & it's fine so I'm sure that this is solvable!

1. If your laptop has a built-in wireless adapter, then you don't need a belkin wireless g plus adapter.
2. You can connect to the Internet using your adapter provided that the location where you at offers wi-fi or wireless connection
3. If you want wireless connectivity at home, then you need to have a wireless router and subscribed for DSL/Cable broadband connections

Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO (F5D9230-4)

hello!

normally, if you configure the wireless security settings wirelessly, it will automatically disconnect you from the network. you have to input the security key on the laptop first before it connects you back to the network.

i suggest, if you really like to configure the settings of your router, get an ethernet cable, connect it directly to the laptop so you can access and configure the router settings and to avoid from being disconnected

Belkin Mimo Router

If you're connected to the router with excellent stregth then the problem most likly lies in the routers connection to the internet. Check your DSL, Cable modem and make sure the connection to the "Internet" port on your router is good. Try switching out the Ethernet cable if nessciary.

Connecting to secure network

when enabling wireless security the router and adapter must be both be configured and configured in a fashion that both support. If you need help provide confirmation of your wireless router's manufacturer and model and the same information for any wireless adapters or computers with built-in wireless adapters to be wirelessly connected.

This will allow us to determine the common security options for all wireless devices you have.
