This issue might happen due to RAM.

To resolve this issue:
Turn of the power supply for your desktop.
Please remove the side case on your tower(CPU).
find the RAM slot and remove the RAM from the Slot.
Clean the RAM terminals with the help of cloth or Eraser.
After cleaning place the RAM on RAM slot.
Now try to turn ON the PC desktop. If it is working thats fine or else you need to replace another RAM to check.

Vostro 200 four beeps at startup then repeats; fan stays on.

Cant say for sure what the problem is, but most probably it is due to a bad RAM module. Try removing it and after removing the dust on the RAM and its slot Re-insert it. Also try cleaning up other areas with a blower too. It should workout.

IBM intellistation 6849 will not turn on subsequent to cleaning.

As you have opened the cabinet and cleaned, the ram might be loosened i suggest remove the ram blow out the dust in the ram slot and fix the ram properly in the ram slot and then to if the system doesnot power on check the front panel connections whether you have connected properly.

Turn on computer-wouldn't boot

Hello,
This beeping sound is usually due to the ram, either it is bad or dirty. Get somebody to check it or open the case and remove the ram, clean it with a dry cloth and reseat it back. If you cleaned it and it still is doing the same thing, then the ram may be faulty and will need to be replaced.

Hope you solve this issue.
Thanks for using Fixya,
