Screen says the system has detected that a cooling fan is not operating correctly. System fan (90B). The computor is 2days old. by pressing enter the computor operates ok. please advise. thank you

I would take the laptop back to the store I bought it from and ask for an exchange. Changing a fan on a laptop can be a very intense process involving removing the entire motherboard. This could also be a bios setting issue but to seek advice from someone who hasn't touched the laptop for a fan issue is not a good idea. Heat is a laptops worst enemy and the only things fighting that enemy are your fans.

Could someone please help, i have a dell inspiron 1545, i have lost the factory image etc, and repair doesnt seem to do anything, i'd like to totally format this, please could someone giv me a step by...

You will need a replacement Operating System disk there is no way around this. You may have to purchase one if the factory does not have the original disks that came with your laptop. In any event your going to have to get one either a factory one which you say you cannot get or you can use a Windows disk XP or Win 7 I would avoid Vista at all possible.
Once you have a disk to install the software you are going to have to boot from DVD or CD drive first boot place the disk in the drive and start the computer. Follow the onscreen instructions. Format the drive Windows will have that option and away you go. I would suggest Win 7 if you computer has enough memory or a large enough drive or CPU speed to handle the load. Use XP if it does not have the resources. That is about it. John

Lost cd

I'm just going to assume your lost CD is the Windows installation disk.

To get a lost disk back, try calling the company that sold it to you (for the Windows install disk, call the computer store). You should be ready with your original receipt, just in case.

If you are talking about something else, please specify exactly what it is here.

I would like to get my computer back to the way it was when I baught it. I'm afraid my hard drive has been wiped clean and I do not have a backup disk as far as I know.

1) Hold down the power button for 10 (ten) seconds to switch off your machine.

Please note: Holding down the power button on the machine forces it to switch off. Any unsaved data will be lost.

2) Press and hold the 0 (zero) key and at the same time, tap the power button once to switch on your notebook.

3) When the machine Starts beeping; release the 0 key.

4) When prompted by the warning screen; select Yes to continue with the system recovery.

5) Select Recovery of Factory Default Software; click Next.

6) Select Recover to out-of-box state. Click Next again.

7) Click Next to Start recovery.

I hope you find this step by step solution helpful for you. If so, please rate this information thank you.

I lost my operating system for an acer aspire one netbook i downloaded an 05 gateway recovory can do hardly anything. can i download a recovry disk or burn a disk free?

Not that I am aware of. You can puchase a new recovery disk from Acer for an average of 25 bucks depending on model. The only other way to get it "free" is to find a friend or someone with the same model and burn a copy of thiers.

Good Luck

Data Storage on Laptop (IBM/Lenovo)

While not cheap, Spinrite from GRC was my choice for HD problems of most kinds while I was still doing service.
It isn't cheap but it can perform seeming miracles on problems such as yours.

I have an acer 5315-2153

Format the Main Hard Disk on which the Operating System is installed and reinstall the Operating System on it. BUT ALL YOUR DATA ON THAT HARD DISK WILL BE LOST IN THIS CASE. If you don't know how to do so, CONTACT ANY COMPUTER VENDOR/MECHANIC.
