If you need a replacement, you have two choices. Visioneer no longer makes this scanner, but they do offer replacement power adaptors. They run about $20 plus shipping. It may be quicker (and cheaper) to look on the scanner (maybe on the bottom or on the back, probably beside the power jack) or on the current adaptor itself and see what the power rating is. It will say something like "6 VDC, 1A" or "5.5 VDC, 3-5A". These are the two power ratings you need. VDC is the DC voltage, and A is the amperage. You can take the power adaptor to a local Radio Shack or similar electronics shop, and they'll help you with an appropriate adaptor. You may also be able to find an appropriate adaptor at a large electronics store (like Best Buy) or a large discount store like Wal-Mart or Target. Just go to the electronics section. A small speciality shop will probably take the adaptor and give you the choice of one or two that will work. In a larger store, you may not get as much help, so you just want to match both power numbers on the package, then make sure the plugs on the end of the power cords match, so the new one will fit your scanner (universal adaptors often include several tips that can be put on the end of the power cord; just make sure one of them is the same size and shape as yours).

No power. no lights. I have checked the power cord and its like there is no power

Firstly check that there is power to the Ac adaptor, this can be done by seeing if the green power indicator light is on on the adaptor body.

If not, then you have a defective plug, blown 3 amp fuse or the adaptor is fried (not uncommon)
If you have a multimeter, you can set it to 20 volts DC and with the adaptor pligged into the mains, test the DC JACK end! by putting the red probe to the inner part of the jack and the black to the outer part, if no reading, then assume the adaptor is dead.

Best way to check is by testing with an adaptor (universal charger type) to see if that works.

Assuming the adaptor is putting out power, check the output with a multimeter as above and see if the voltage is at the correct level (think its 19 volts on that model). If it is, then move on to the DC jack connection on the netbook

Watch the power indicator on the adaptor, if it is not steady green (ie flashes on and off), ther power is not making a circuit in the alptop and is being "spat back", this can be anything from a blown circuit board in the power circuit, to something as simple as a motherboard main fuse.

If there is a staedy green light but no power at the netbook and the jack connection at the netbook is firm and not sloppy or loose, then you will need to have the netbook dismantled and the fuse checked ( this will also need to happen if the jack connection is loose.

Sometimes, removing the battery, pressing the power button on (with the adapator unplugged) for 30 seconds and repowering with the ac adaptor can reboot the system, but I'd be inclined to suspect the adaptor first

Laptop does not work off mains and battery does not charge

Just check the power connection from the AC going to your laptop if the power adaptor of your laptop are working. Note; you only know that the power adaptor was working if the LED (Light Emiting Diode) was light because the power adaptor are have the LED to see it that they are working normally. If the power adaptor working normally their was a problem of the power supply inside your laptop and need to be repair by the electronic service center. But if the power adaptor are not working the problem are in the power adaptor. I recommend that you replace your power adaptor and bring it to the computer store to check its type and model it is because only same type or model of that power adaptor to be replace.

Hey i have pressed ctrl + F12 by mistake and my loptop stop charging the battray now as the battrtay run out i can not start it up, it is pulged to the power but it wont light and when i press the strating...

Pressing Ctrl + F12 should not have caused what you are saying.
Check your power adaptor is there a light on the power adaptors case if not check the fuse.
Is there a light lit anywhere on the laptop when the power adaptor is plugged in.
If you have lights on the power adaptor but not the laptop have the output of the adaptor checked.
If you have lights on the adaptor and laptop try the following.
One trick that can re-set things is to remove the RAM, HDD, Battery and power adaptor, fit it back together and try to power up.
Hope this helps.

I have a Dell D600 (PP05L), its not powering up no lights. I noticed on the power adapter the green light goes out when plugged into ac power. What could be wrong here? please help

Hook up your power adaptor to ac power without it being hooked up to the laptop and see if the green light stays on. If it does then you know your adaptor is okay. if your adaptor is only hooked up to ac power and the green light still turns off then you know your ac adaptor is bad.

Take out the battery from your laptop. Now hook up the ac adaptor to the laptop and if it stays green then you know your battery is bad but you also want to make sure you can get your laptop to turn on. Hopefully it will turn on with only the ac adaptor hooked up to it.

ACER ASPIRE LAPTOP 2920 NO DISPLAY

Ckeck if your adaptor has power on the connector to laptop.

Might be damaged power cord (to and from the adaptor) or broken adaptor.

While there was power in the battery, it was running, but not charging.
Now the battery is emty and can't be charged because of broken adaptor/cables.
If you find there is no power from the adaptor, bepair it or buy a new one.

Do not try to repair the adaptor by yourself if you are not a technician, it is DANGEROUS !
Either give it to a qualified servicer, or betteer, buy a new one.

How to fix Power Adapter

Does your adaptor geting warmer when plugged to power outlet for some time (minutes)?

If not, than there are two possible solutions:
First (the easiest) thing is to check if both wires are not cut or short (one that you connect to power outlet, and the other one you connect to your laptop). You'll need some multimer to do this.
Most possible is that you'll need to open the power adaptor to do these checks.

Second thing is to locate and check the Fuse. Most of the adaptors have a Fuse inside.

If the fuse is OK, the wires are also OK, and the adaptor is getting warmer (or not), than you should buy a new power adaptor.
My experiance sais, not to belive much to repaired laptop adaptors (you don;t say what laptop you have).
Also, do not ask for substitute (cheap) adaptor!
Find an original one!
Most important is the following:

Please note that you should't try to do these checks, if you don't feel you are enough qualified. You should ask some friend of your's or some service. It should't cost you much !

Also, if you try to do this by yourself, be EXTREMELY carefull when adaptor is open. DO NOT PLUG it to power outled !!!
You might be killed !!!

Regards.

Power Adaptor for 500GB LaCie P3 HD USB 2.0 7200RPM 8MB USA?

Both power adaptors are 4 pin, ITHINK that the Porsche that you have is the same as mine which has the smaller (4 pin DIN) plug 34W power supply.
But check on LaCie's site: http://www.lacie.com/asia/products/product.htm?pid=10857
Hope this helps.
