The SE error code means the microwave has had a Key short error. The control panel or smart board will need to be replaced.
Not really a DIY job. Microwaves can retain up to 2200V even when unplugged.
control panel frame assembly ("control") , which comes with a new keypad already installed lists for $59.99 fyi.
"SE" error means you
have a shorted membrane keypad.
You would need to have either the membrane keypad itself replaced, or the control panel frame assembly which comes with a new keypad, or the whole controller.
Part numbers and prices will of course depend on the model number.
i think your getting to much moisture in your microwave the exhaust fan is to small and can't handle it. once everything dries out you are able to rest it check with samsung.
Hello & Welcome to FixYa SE or 5E means shorted keypad and to solve this problem the keypad needs replacement, if it has already been replaced then it is better to replace the ribbon cable connecting the board. Please get back to me if you have any other questions. Kevin
Try calling Samsung.... Purchased samsung SMH8165ST in Oct 2009. have had the SE code problem for a few month now. Resetting worked at first. Then the light started flasing on & off along with the beeping...would not reset. Out of frustration I called Samsung. I was told they are aware of the problem & would repair in the "epidemic warranty". Repair man just left. It took him about 15 minutes to change out the keypad. No charge!!
On some models, you can replace the membrane keypad.
I have
uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically
involved. It's here.
If you would like to
have us
do this repair for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs nationwide.
On some models, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part,
so you would have to order the control panel frame assembly which comes
with a new keypad.
In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame. That is a simple do-it-yourself job.
You can find
helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full
model number from the tag on the oven here.
At
our Web site, we have a video
available showing how to remove a typical
over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.
Then you unplug the keypad (as per the photo below) and move the circuit board into your frame.

SE error means you
have a shorted membrane keypad.
If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by
itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.
So until it is repaired,
please leave it unplugged or leave the door
open when it's not in use, and of course one should never leave a microwave unattended while cooking.
Feel free to contact me directly (and
please include your full model number from the tag in or on the
unit) for a free estimate and free tips & do-it-yourself advice.
