Probably a clogged nozzle.

  1. Remove the black ink.
  2. Get a cotton swab and dip it in alcohol
  3. Rub the base of the housing that the cartridge mounts in in a circular motion. Do not apply heavy pressure!!
  4. Check the bottom of the cartridge for globs of ink. If there are any you may need to wipe the cartridge across a napkin or paper towel.
  5. Reinstall and try again.

I have a Pixma IP1000 and just bought a new colored ink last night. Tried printing but magenta is not printing. Help!

Click Start, Printers and Faxes (or Printers and Devices in Windows 7), Right click on your printer (Pixma iP1000), click Properties.

Go to the Maintenance Tab, do a deep cleaning (more than once if it's still printing the missing color). Also do a Bottom Plate Cleaning if it still doesn't work.

Problem with canon PIXMA ip1000 printer

Hi there,

It might be the contact strip of the Printer which remains in touch with Cartridge going rip off for the Black one.

You need to repair it. It will not cost you much.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards
Ellin

IP1000 cannot print black ink

This is what worked (so far) with my Dell1.gif AIO A940 printer1.gif that wouldn't print black ink.

It worked for awhile when I chose photo/glossy paper, but then it quit printing again (see below).

PRINT, PROPERTIES, PAPER SETUP, SPECIALTY PAPER, PHOTO/GLOSSY

I got it to print, again, by putting SEVERAL papers in the feeder (instead of just 1) - there is a sensor that is supposed to automatically detect paper type, and it might not be working right, especially with one or only a couple of sheets.
