Question about JBL CREATURE II Computer Speakers

Europe-to-usa power supply problem?

Hello,

I bought my speakers about 8 months ago, in Europe. Never had a problem using them. I recently moved back to the United States. I plugged in the speakers with an adapter, and hooked everything up. The power-on LED on the subwoofer is lit, but the leds on the satellite speakers are not. There is no sound at all from the speakers. What gives? Is this a problem with the power supply, maybe?

Thanks!
Sarah

Hello Sarah, I brought mine in Europe too and found out that they are rated for 220 VAC while in the US you will need a 110 VAC power adapter so if this is your case you need to buy a replacement.

Hi Roxanne
Sounds as though the power-supply might be faulty. As you turn up the volume more power is required from the supply and it's not delivering - hence the light fading.

I have XA3021 altec lansing but the power cable missing. Anybody can help me to get a new one?

Hello

Its original line chord is of polorized plug type. You can use any type of power chord. Choose the best quality, and compactability to your Altec Lansings' AC socket. That is all. The line voltage and frequency will differ according to your native place. If you are from US/Canada or other Latin American countries, the supply voltage will be 120AC;60HZ and for Europe and United kngdom it will be 230AC;50Hz. This is the only difference, and it will not effect the used power chord at all. OK.

Same problem with sound sticks

The sound sticks do not show at all in the sound preferences on two different computers.  One running 10.5.2, one 10.4.x.  I get a "disconnect pop sound when I unplug them hot.  But no sound when I connect them to AN Y of the other 9 units I have here at my office.  Is there a repair to the sticks available?  I do show a blue light within the base speaker. Help please...  Or at least make a decent replacement recommendation.

Speakers not working

Hi,

Most computer speaker system will indicate power when switched on. The on switch could be a push button type or rotary built-in to the volume control. There are however models that are automatically powered on once plug to the mains.

In instances such as this that even though plug to the mains, switched on and yet still LEDS does not light up is indicative of a power supply problem. This could be as simple as a fuse blown or worst burnt components.

Pls, first thing you need to check is if the speakers are rated the same as the local/mains voltage where your are. Example, if the speakers were bought from and meant for US, chances are that they are 120VAC; if your are currently based in Europe, then the local mains would be 220~240VAC, simply plugging in and powering would burn a fuse or a transformer or a regulator. The reverse could possibly also hold true since it will be getting about half of what it is designed to receive (unit is 240 but used in 120).

If the above does not apply to your concern or even if it does, the power supply must be checked, diagnosed and possibly would require repair. This would involve familiarity and knowledge of electronic circuitry and components, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. If you are not comfortable going through this route, perhaps your best bet would be to seek the services of an electronics technician.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Harman Kardon soundsticks do not work

U probbaly blown an IC. U could take them to a repair shop :) but if u are in Western Europe or USA they are going to charge u extra :P
The IC itself costs around 7-8 euro, deppending on the producer.

P.S.: If u wanna throw them away u could always mail them to me :P
