This player will do that if it is connected to a pc running Vista or Windows Media Player 11

try the Repair in Philips Device Manager

if it says "failed to repair," the player is done

Please connect player to pc

You have to run a Repair in the Philips Device Manager - that is the solutino to the problem. If the repair fails, your mp3 player is toast - call Philips to see if you are in-warranty.

Froze and stop working,no power

Ok, I got it. First, dont do what I did (if anyone would) and try to take it apart, big sacrifice, low payoff. I looked up the faq on this (hdd1630) and they said to hold the power button and the vol+ button for a couple seconds, and it worked. If this doesnt help, here is the link www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/faqlist?ctn=HDD1630/17&dct=FAQ&slg=AEN&scy=US -

My philips HDD1630 has frozen.

Mine did the exact same thing. I called support and after having to fax my serial number info with my sales slip (I bought it six months ago--lucky I had the Circuit City email receipt), they confirmed it was still under warranty. Basically, they said it can't be fixed. They gave me a 'ship to' address and said they'll send me a new one when the recieve the bad one. If you act quickly, they should be able to exchange yours, too. You might want to ask if they'll pick up the return shipment. I paid just under $10 for UPS, but now wish I'd have asked. Good Luck.
