Question about Pioneer AVIC-Z1 Car DVD Player

AVIC - Z1 Screen no longer retracts to allow insertion of a CD

The AVIC - Z1 has the CD slot behind the screen. When the open button is pushed the screen should retract to allow insertion of a CD. Once a CD is inserted the screen returns to its original position. The screen has now stopped retracting -- a noise is heard when the open button is pushed and the screen moves down a little but then stops and returns to the original position. All other functions work on the unit but a CD can not be played.

I called Pioneer to find a authorized repair shop in the Atlanta area and they told me the unit would have to be uninstalled and shipped to them for repair. Any thoughts on whether the entire unit needs to be unistalled to repair or could someone repair while still in the dash?

One of the pistons that move the screen in place must be stuck. The unit must be taken apart to fix this.
You need to take the tablet at a replair shop

A cd is stuck in my Pioneer AVIC Z1 nav system. I

This is a tricky one you could try tyaking the top of the radio off and see if you can help slide it out. Another trick is to get a thin stiff piece of cardboard like the back of a writing tablet cut a strip apx. 2" wide and 6" long. Take a piece of ducktape and with the sticky side up insert under the disc hit eject and see if that will coax it out.

My Avic Z1 won't read any disc inserted in drive. Any Ideas?

You have problem with the reading head of the cd. if it has warranty send it back or else you have to try to clean the head with a cotton stick and it will work fine if the head is not broken.

AVIC z1 issues

First of all you should have know better than to force it. If you can't get your money back from the seller, and I don't think he will if you mention this, I'm interested if the price is right to buy it from you as is. Email me at: joe_texan_1951@yahoo.com

AVIC-N1 opens to blanks screen and none of buttons work

It is probably the ribbon cable that you can see when the screen closes. This is a known problem and the part is sometimes hard to find. But is available.

Avic-z1 touch screen does not work

Is the screen cracked? Just a small crack can cause problems. When the screen is cracked and you touch it, it touch's some where else on the screen. I cracked mine, and I just changed it. It's pretty easy, all you need is a small phillips screw driver. Good luck!
