Question about PC Desktops

My asus a639 shuts down within 3 minutes when unused and the only way to start it up is by pressing the reset button. The control buttons on the base of the machine also don't work at all.?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou for trying but the problem is not the actual shutting down, it is the fact that the buttons will not work to turn it on.

Check the power settings - Start>Control Panel>Power Options Properties>Power Schemes - make sure Turn off hard disks and System standby show Never. Go to the Hibernate tab and uncheck the Enable hibernation box.

That's a start...

Asus Essentio Download Crash

You are facing this annoying issue due to corrupt registry entries of your download files.
So first follow these steps
Open task manager and close any unnecessary processes running in background
Delete all unnecessary applications
Uninstall unnecessary programs (Games, crapware, toolbars, etc.)
Click start>Run.. Type msconfig>enter>Start Up. Uncheck the boxes for the programs that you think you may not use often
If this didn't help you then simply get the Reginout because it is a very useful tool that cleans your computer of temp files, history and cookies. Its also used to fix any registry errors which made your system crash

Did you try resetting the PRAM and SMC?
Resetting PRAM and NVRAM

1. Shut down the computer (by holding the power button).

2. Turn on the computer. Wait until I hear the boot sound.

3. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys (simultenously).

4. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.

5. Release the keys.
---------------

When the above 5 steps didn't prove to of much help you can try resetting the SMC.
Close the Mac.
Detach any peripherals, cables, power wires, battery etc.
Be patient for several minutes.
Re-attach all the cables, peripherals like before.
Now turn ON the OS X

When I shut down the computer, power is still opperating USB ports and front button light illuminated,.

In that case you aren't actually shutting it down, you are putting it in sleep mode.
In Start > Turn Off Computer window make sure you always click on the Turn Off button but if you're in Vista or 7 pressing Start > Power sends the pc to Sleep by default. To change that to normal behaviour - the Stop button actually stops the pc - follow this:
1 - Open Power Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Power Options.
2 - Under the currently selected power plan, click Change plan settings.
3 - In the Edit Plan Settings dialog box, click Change advanced power settings.
4 - In the Power Options dialog box, click the plus sign (+) next to Power buttons and lid to expand the list.
6 - Click the plus sign (+) next to Start menu power button to expand the list; in the Setting list select Shutdown for the Power button. Click OK.
