Bissel pro heat 2X no access door I take out 5 screws and the front/side plastic covers come off and I can change the belts. I replaced 1 before for same problem but there are two belts inplace and not worn or broken. one must be the pump belt but I don't know which. Is there a switch the stepon pedal activates to turn them on?

Belt worn or hair build up can clog it from spinning. I've seen this on other models. Just remove the hair slowly. If the Belt is worn you can replace that from Bissel or any store that sells their product.

Check to ensure that the pump belt and brush belt are intact and installed according to the instructions provided in the User's Guide.

The pump belt is located under the belt access door on the side of the machine. This belt should be looped around the red pulley and the silver motor shaft.

To check the brush belt, please follow these directions:

Turn the machine OFF and unplug from the wall outlet.

Step on the handle release pedal to lay the handle down on the floor.

Remove the Tank-in-Tank and SmartMix Bottle and set them aside.

Turn the machine over to expose the brush.

Look for the red retainer plates, which hold the black brush arms in place. Remove the two Phillips head screws to access the toothed brush belt. Check to ensure the belt is intact and looped around the brush end, as well as the red pulley with the ridges.

Remove any dirt or debris from the brush assembly.
Inspect brush, brush arms, red brush arm retainers and red pulley for damage and replace parts if applicable.

Why

Hi! There are a few reasons why your brushes may not be spinning. Try these simple steps below.

1. Your brush roll may be clogged. Unplug the cleaner and remove any debris from brush roll.
2. Make sure the brush roll setting is turned on. The brush roll on/off switch is located on the handle of the hose.
3. Reset the brushes. The brush roll reset button is located on the back of the nozzle on the right side.

Hope this helps! If you still have questions feel free to reach out to us here on Fixya, Facebook.com/dirtdevil or Twitter @DirtDevil.

The red "!" icon is on when I turn on my vacuum

Button on CARPET, lower the handle for use, turn on power and the brush turns. Handle up like for storage, brush does not turn. Bare floor button pushed, does not turn.

Brush bar is not turning when I turn on my dison vacum

Hi There,

The Dyson DC15 All floors is actually a 2 motor upright, meaning the suction motor is separate from the motor that rotates the brushes. The first thing you should check is the reset switch on the brushes. Behind the brushes there is a little red pole, push this down to reset the brushes, and see if this fixes the problem.

If not, then you may have a bad on/off switch for the roller brushes. Try pushing the switch next to the main on/off switch that controls the brushes up and down, up and down, can you hear the brushes attempt to come on at all? If you could hear them come on even somewhat, this means that your brush on/off switch is bad and needs to be replaced.

If nothing happens when you push this switch, it still may be bad and not getting any power at all to it.

Does the machine make any sound at all when you try to turn the brush switch on and off?

Please try pushing the reset switch, then testing the on/off switch first. If neither one of these solutions works, please just use the comment field on the repair and let me know, and I can then walk you through some more advanced diagnosing of your machine.

Thanks,

Chris Jones

Brush doesn't turn, and hard to push on carpet...

Hiyas, have you checked underneath take off the brush base cover and see if the brush belt has snapped to the side of the brush bar, if so you can get a replacement easy enough at most electrical retail stores, take the make and model number with you ;) it will be hard to push with the brushes not spinning, try raising the setting in the meantime until you can replace a new belt

DCo7 too much suction hard to push

This suggests that the bristles on your brush roller are worn out.  When the bristles are a good working length, rotation of the roller actually helps to pull the machine over the carpet. When the bristles wear down this effect is lost.

My vacuum has good suction but i can hardly push it across my carpet. any answers????

is your brush roller turning, that would cause it to be hard to push .the brush roller helps it walk across the floor.if your brush roller isn't turning then your belt is broke or the brush itself siezed up.unplug the vacuum and try to turn the brush roller .if it turns real free then your belt is broke.before you replace the belt always clean the motor shaft ,the old rubber from the old belt melts onto the motor shaft .if you don't clean it your new belt won't last very long.please leave feedback

Agitator brush will not turn

Some of these have a resetable circuit breaker, if it has one, push it. There is a motor on the brush roll which could be bad. There also is an on/off switch, it may have a problem. Also may have a switch where the hose goes into, some models have a actuator for the switch, when the hose is pushed in, it actuates the switch so the brush roll motor turns on and stops when you pull the hose out.
