Question about PC Laptops

Frozen touchpad I just came across your answer about pulling the plug and battery to reboot to fix the problem of not being able to do anything with the touchpad. That doesn't work for my acer aspire 3680 - any other thoughts?

Did you try the Fn+F7 combo, the F7 is usually assigned to the touchpad and is indicated by an icon that's relevant.

This works on most notebooks to turn on or off the touchpad.

Let me know, as this can also be turned on or off in the bios setup pages. Press F2 or F10 (it varies) to enter your bios setup screens. In these pages is a setting for touch pad only, mouse only or touch pad and mouse or serial. You might check that.

My cursor on my new acer laptop has disappeared how do i get it back?

I would first try rebooting the laptop to see if it corrects the situation. The software that controls the cursor may have crashed and a simple pc restart will correct it.

You can reboot the laptop from the keyboard by typing:
Press the Windows Key
Then type shutdown -r t 0 and the press Enter

This will reboot the laptop.

Ocean netbook keyboard frozen

Have you rebooted the Laptop? Can you remove the battery, after unplugging, of course, and rebooting with only the AC cord plugged in? Do you think it's a hardware or software issue? Loose connection of the Keyboard? Can you plug in a USB keyboard to verify the software driver. I'm not familiar with the Laptop? I can't find anything?

Try rebooting. Unplug, remove battery, plug in, reboot. Are you using the touchpad? A external Mouse?

I have an acer aspire using xp. cursor is frozen in the center of screen. Pad doesnt work. Reset but didn't change anything. Did fn-f7 didn't change anything. I can only get around using my tab key...

Plug in a USB mouse to give you some mouse functionality. Then go HERE (http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers) and search for your specific laptop model and try to see if they have a touchpad driver for your model.

Also you can go to the device manager in Windows (Right Click my computer and choose Manage)
find the touchpad driver in the list, right click and uninstall. Then reboot your computer and have Windows reinstall using plug and play (it will do this automatically)

Good Luck.

My cinedash media console touchpad has frozen on mute and high volume

Shut off your laptop. Pull the power cable/supply plug out. Remove battery. Wait 15 seconds or so, then put it all back together and boot it up. Should be fine after that.

Frozen touchpad

I followed the advice of pressing the FN and F7 keys at the same time. It didn't work when the program was fully loaded, but I rebooted and tried again during the rebooting and it worked. I had the frozen cursor on the Travel Mate (Acer) also.

Cursor is frozen and can;t move on my laptop

Plug in a USB mouse, and go to Contol Panel>system>device manager and click on the +sign next to pointing devices. Right click touchpad and uninstall the touchpad, then reboot the computer, remove the usb mouse. Windows will pick up the touchpad as new hardware and re-install the drivers for it etc..

I hope this helps

If it's frozen so that nothing gives you a menu, etc., I suspect the only option is to remove the battery and pull the power plug. That will ALWAYS give you a cold reboot. It's not the way you'd like to shut down, but it sounds like you have no choice.

Touchpad doesn't respond

MY SOLUTION - Hello, I have Compaq Presario V2000 Laptop and at once my touchpad stopped working.

So i rebooted it several times but it still didn't work.

Then i detached the battery from the laptop and let it like that for 5 min. I attached the battery again and the touchpad was working again.

So, try the simplest solutions first before you start messing with complicating solutions.

Good luck !
