Hello,

If you have windows 7, the size should be around 15 GB. More space can be taken up by updates and system restore points created by updates and software/driver installations. You can try running disk cleanup to see if this is the case or not.

When requested to install told that not enough space on hard drive 39111 MB required and I have 32GB. Documentation on box indicates 4 GB of disk space required not 40 GB. Configuration data file on DVD...

It may need additional temporary space. Now you say you
have 32 GB and it requires 39 GB. That's 39 GB- 4 GB= 35
leaving a 3 GB play room. Too close for comfort. Eliminate
those videos of the dog and cat playing, and you'll have tons
of space.

Can you also check to see if you are storing lots of video,s or hundred's of pictures
on the c drive either in your documents or desktop maybe
or have you done lots of backups which could be taking up your space

please check this out for us and come back to us also telling us what operating system you

I receive a no operation system message while booting

Buy a new hard disk drive! Use the 2 golden Gateway, Applications, Drivers, & Operating System disc, also known as Restoration DVD to reinstall your Gateway programs & operating system. After that, reinstall your backups.

How much disk space do you need? Why buy a 320 GB HDD if you only use 4 GB? So, keep the bytes down if you don't need them and that will keep the costs down, too!

The Gateway support discs can be had at: www.Gateway.com/Support .

HELP.What Happened to 40 GB Space???

You may have to try to repartition the drive, you can do this while installing windows on the disk. If a partition table is corrupted it can make windows think there is more pr less space on a disk, Ive had tables corrupted so bad on dying drives they reported 999999999 gb on a 40 gb drive. you may want to look into getting a new hard drive as well if this is occurring.

My hard drive is a wd2500jb and its only giving me 130 gb of space. How do i get the full 250 gb?

Chances are your disk is partitioned. If it's your Operating System drive, you should reformat with your OS disc. If it's just a secondary drive, check in Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (Mac/Linux) and you can re-partition the drive as you desire.
For windows, do search in the start menu search bat to find disk management, and in mac use spotlight to find disk utility.
