Question about Cameras

7 Answers

I went to take a picture with my 3 year old Fuji S3100 digital camera. A flashing red battery icon appeared. thinking it meant a low battery I switched batteries. After doing so the camera refused to come on. Subsequent battery changes failed to solve the problem. Any suggestions?

Battery compartment contacts need cleaning with rubbing alcohol using a Que tip on + - terminals. Make sure the cover is making contact with the batteries. Use fresh batteries also. Also check connection being made by xD-Picture Card. Remove that and remove the batteries. Any backup battery check that condition also. Other than that it could be a firmware update or the camera needs to be sent in to get repair. Faulty board or chipset could also cause this problem.

You have while installing the new batteries reversed accidentally the polarity of the batteries
OR
the sudden surge of current into the camera has made a small fuse in the powersupply circuitry blow off.the fuse is in the form of a small zener diode which regulates voltage and current controlled
this can be repaired by a camera repair man very easily.

Make sure that you have charged the battery for more than 6hours to full charge

and if that does not solve then try a hard reset by leaving the unit with out batteries for one night

if using a full charged battery does not make the red flashing icon vanish then you can try a hard reset as i mentioned in my last post.

leave the unit with out any battery for one night and then again put the battery inside and then start the unit. the unit must be working properly if there is no internal fault.

    if the icon appears:
see if the warning flash just keeps flashing without shutting tht unit off. if it keeps working with out shutting donw the camera then it is a problem with the camera firmware. and so you will need a firmware upgrade.

if the camera flashes the warning and shuts down very soon even on using full charged battery after a hard rest---then it time for you to go for a service center.

we can give no other solution remotely.

    sorry

  • dewan nafees ahmed Jul 30, 2008

    well it is the fact.

either it is bad or good,. we need to accept it right.

    sorry about that sir.

You need to use alkaline batteries, it won't work with regular batteries.

First of all you need to use alkaline batteries, this camera won't work with regular batteries.
If you are using alkalines, check battery contacts , probably they are dirty or have oxide, in case use circuit cleaning solution to remove oxide.

Well , buy 4 alkalines for a cople of $$ and test them, a set of rechargeables may give less performance if one of the batteries is starting to go.

On my FinePix s3100, cannot transfer picture from camera to computer. After setting the Usb Mode setting in the Setup menu, it reverts to picture read screen. Recent problem - all other settings are fine....

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Hello, I have fuji finepix F50fd camera. It suddenly takes blurred pictures. The lens is clean and there are no messages on the screen. Can't remeber dropping it or damaging it in any way. Regards, Sofia

Welcome to FixYa.

There are three reasons why do you get a blurred images.

1. The camera lens is dirty
- clean the lens with soft and dry cloth
2. AF frame (lit red) and !AF appeared when taking pictures.
- check the focus on the subject and take pictures
3. A small camera icon appeared when taking pictures
- It may cause camera shae. Hold the camera steadily.Use flash photography. A tripod may be recommended, depending on the scene and mode.

Feel free to send us comments or suggestions if this solution was helpful.

Thank you for using FixYa.

How do you turn the flash on? (with the vivitar vivicam 8018)

Your camera has a built in flash function which enables you to take photos when the light condition is not good.

1. Press the Up button. (for reference of buttons, please see the below figure mentioned)
2. Press the Up button once until you see the icon appear on the LCD screen. This indicates that the flash is forced on.
3. Press the Up button again to change to the auto flash function.
4. The icon will appear at the top of the LCD indicating that the auto flash is turned on and ready to use.
5. Press the Up button again to change from the auto flash to the red eye function.
6. The icon will appear on the LCD indicating that the red eye reduction function has been activated.
7. To turn off the flash function, press the Up button again until the icon is displayed on the LCD.

Note: A “Low Power” message will appear on the LCD screen, if you select the flash function when the battery power is insufficient. To continue using the camera with the flash, please change new batteries

Fuji FinePix S3100 will not turn on.

Sorry, no real solution. My friends have one that would not turn on and they left it without batteries for a month, then put the batteries in and it worked. Mine has failed and will not turn on. I have left the batteries out but nothing has miraculously fixed itself yet. May have to send it in to Fuji.
