Hi nashsmama.
Hot is a relative term, so here goes. Manufacturers will run a small tube of the warmed refrigerant in areas around the door to minimize condensation, so some heat is normal. Excess heat could mean your coils are in need of cleaning. Those are usually located under the refrigerator at the back behind a panel. You might be able to get a peek through the air flow slots to see if there is visible dust/pet hair build up. If there was too much heat, you would notice a difference in your temperatures and be making temp adjustments.
I hope that clears it up for you.
