Find the manufacture and the model of the web cam and download the drivers.
If it's a laptop with built in webcam visit laptop manufacture's website to find the drivers for your particular model.
That should fix the problem you're having.

  1. go to Device manager and see if cam is there, click update.
  2. go to HP, see link below, get the drivers you deleted.
  3. run scan tools to learn what camera is there and get driver from the maker of cam. ask.

learn that many HP PC, the usb ports must work first
as the camera runs off port 0, inside.

which drivers in that list does the camerA, Im not sure.
did you click update in device manager yet and be on line first?

if at wits end why not ask HP real here.

Webcam no working

1. Check if the webcam driver is installed. go to Device Manager, if your computr have Vista/7 you can type "Device Manager" in the start search box in the start menu and click on Device Manager in the results list at the top. If you have XP, right click on the "My Computer" icon then Properties, from the System Properties windows go to the "Hardware" tab then from there click on the Device Manager button.

2. Once Device Manager is open, look for "Imaging Devices" click on the small + sign to expand the view and check if your webcam is listed there, if it doesn't come up or if it does and have a red "X" on it, we will need to reinstall the driver to fix it.

3. Most HP/Compaq notebook computers have a "Recovery" partition. We can reinstall all bundled programs and drivers from there. For Vista/7, type "Recovery Manager" in the search box, for XP look for the Recovery Manager in the Programs Menu.

4. When the Recovery Manager program loads, select "Hardware/Driver Reinstallation". A list of all drivers will be listed, look for the webcam driver. Follow the on screen instructions for installation.

5. When installation finishes, the computer might restart automatically or if it doesn't restart the computer.

6. Test the webcam.

Hope this help.

I cant load or start up my HPwebcam that is built in to my laptop

1. Check whether you are able to see the webcam entry in device manager ( under imaging devices)
2. If the device is not detected perform the following:

Step 1 : Disconnect the power cable and external devices form the notebook.
Step 2 :Turn off the notebook.
Step 3 : Now turn the notebook upside down. You will see a latch. Move the latch to the extreme right and left.
Step 4 : Now you please remove the battery .
Step 5 : Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
This will drain out the static electricity from the notebook.
Step 6 : Now connect the Ac Adapter to the notebook (please do not insert the battery), and turn on the notebook

Even if the device is not detected, reinstall the operaitng system.

If the device is detected, uninstall the drivers and reinstall them from recovery manager.

Here is the link where you can get the instructions to reinstall the drivers from recovery manager in vista:
