Re: Lexmark P3150 printer

Will not print. On/off light will not turn off. Printer error says shut scanner lid, but it is shut. I have turned unit off and on numerous times and disconnected power source and back on. Also, deleted and reinstalled lexmark printer software. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Some place on the underside of the lid there will either be a magnet of some type that contacts the base when closed. or a tab of some sort that goes into an optical sensor to tell the printer the lid is closed. i dont know this machine but i fix printers for a living. this is not a software issue. sensor problem yes. look on the back of the lid where the hinge is look for a wire to those hinges. if this unit has such a wire check it for damage.

I have a laptop that has vista OS and when I try to print using my Lexmark p3150 printer I get a "trouble communicating with the printer" warning. Is there a driver that will correct this? I...

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

You may also try to update your printer driver by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/ieDcBl. Select your operating system, download and execute the file.

Error 50 c

  1. Power off your printer.
  2. Use both hands to lift up the scanner unit until the scanner support holds it open.
  3. Turn the printer on. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the printer is busy.
  4. Remove the color print cartridge.
  5. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  6. If the error message reappears, replace the black print cartridge with a new print cartridge.
If it does not repeat steps 1-3 and then go to step 7.
  7. Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black print cartridge.
  8. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  9. If the error message occurs again, replace the color cartridge.
  10. If an error message reappears, repeat steps 1-3 and reinstall both print cartridges.
Hope this helps.
  1. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  2. If you receive the error message again, replace both cartridges.

Lexmark printer

Do you want to do a copy of a document directly from the scanner? OR copy a document to your pc?

If you want to do a copy - print it out directy, just press the copy button on the printer / scanner, this is covered in detail in the user manual.

IF you want to copy the document to your pc you need to press the scan button or open a program on your pc, for example microsoft paint - and get from scanner or camera.

Nothing prints

Actually, yes there are compatiblilty issues with Lexmark's drivers and Vista.

Here is a forum from microsoft about this issue : Click Here

Basically if you do not want to downgrade from Vista or wait for Lexmark to release drivers (P3150 is a discontinued printer and will probably not have another official driver release) or you can add your P3150 and select 'Generic / Text Only' for your driver and set the correct port (USB, Parallel, or however). But that will not use all the great features your printer comes with especially because it is an All-In-One as opposed to someone who just wants to print documents.

Hope this solved your problem.
