If you are referring to your Windows licence key, then go to and use the Microsoft Product tool which will guide you through the process to purchase a new product licence code.

If you are reinstalling the exact same version of Windows on the exact same computer / hardware where it had previously been activated, then you should be able to contact the Microsoft Activation Centre by telephone and be guided through the process of re-activating your software.

Not a genuine windows vista activation key code

Sounds like you're using an illegal CD-Key. You will need to purchase a real legit key from Microsoft or switch to a free OS.
If your computer is from Lenovo and you used the key that came with it, then call Lenovo to have them exchange the key for you.

Need to activate windows xp. dont have a coa # on computer.

Did this come on a WinXP disc, or did Windows come preinstalled on the computer? If you lost the CD Key, you're going to have to call Microsoft tech support to get a key to activate it.

I have lost my key code for my mircosoft works cd. I had my computer fixed and now i have the reinstall my programs it is asking me to enter my code. I no longer have it what do i do now?

If Works Suite 2000 was preinstalled when you purchased your computer, and you lost the CD key, you must call your equipment manufacturer for a new CD key for Works Suite 2000.

For information about how to contact your equipment manufacturer, visit the following Microsoft Web site: If Works Suite 2000 was not preinstalled, and you lost your CD key, please call Works Suite 2000 support for a new CD key.

How to Activate Windows XP in 5 Minutes or Less
Having rebuilt, tested, and reloaded hundreds of computers, I’ve become keenly aware of one of the unavoidable speedbumps during setup — Windows XP’s product activation. After one too many activations, Windows complains that your product key is no longer valid or you’ve exceeded the limit. To keep Windows on the up-and-up (and stay atop the seemingly endless flood of security patches), you’ll have to activate once more with Microsoft. Here are some time-tested tips that will get you through the mandatory process in five minutes or less.

Try Internet Activation First

If you have an internet connection when activating Windows, attempt to use the online route first. In the Windows Product Activation Wizard, choose “Yes, lets activate Windows over the internet now”, followed by “No, do not register with Microsoft”. You may receive a friendly “Thank you!” and your copy of Windows will be good to go.
If internet activation fails and the Wizard complains about “too many activations” or an “incorrect product key”, you still have the option of calling Microsoft’s toll free number to activate Windows. As long as the Wizard doesn’t report “invalid product key,” options are still open. An “invalid” (not “incorrect,” mind you) key is one reported or detected as pirated, so you’ll have to find some other way to make your software go.

Phone Activation

Activating Windows via phone is about as enjoyable as a trip to the dentist, but knowing exactly which buttons to push and the right words to say can help cut your time in half and get you the necessary code.
If your online activation from above failed, click the Telephone button to generate an Installation ID, which you’ll read off to a customer service representative shortly. Call the number for your appropriate country, and you’ll enter into a phone menu system which would like nothing more than for you to activate by reading the numbers onscreen. The software behind the menu, however, does the same checking as the online activation method — meaning if your online activation failed, so too will the automated phone activation. Press 0 on the phone keypad when asked if you are calling to activate Windows XP (the first opportunity you are prompted for input). Like many newer phone menus, it will respond “I see that you’d like to transfer to a customer service representative”, and subsequently try to convince you to go back to the automated system. Ignore the pre-recorded woman’s somewhat rude request to go back, and press 1 to to talk to a human.
After a short delay and the distinct possibility of listening to some poorly chosen music, a representative will ask for either the first six digits of your Installation ID, or the full set. (The first six digits of the Installation ID are the only real keys to generating a Confirmation ID, however the reps more often than not ask you to read off the rest of the group. The rest of the numbers are encoded values detailing some very basic hardware details about your computer.)
If asked “Is this the first time you’re activating Windows?”, say yes. If you say no, the representative will ask for an explanation as to why you’re re-activating Windows.
If asked “Did you purchase the software from a retail store?”, say “It came pre-installed with my computer.”
As a final time-kill (their system sometimes takes a minute to generate Confirmation IDs on days with a particularly heavy load), you may be asked for your Product Key (Windows serial number).
After you’ve given them the necessary information, the representative will read the Confirmation ID to you, which you can simply type into the provided fields. Using these methods, it takes about 4 minutes to activate Windows on average.

Can not remember my wep key or wpa key

I am assuming that you legitimately own this copy of Windows,
because as much as I LOVE the gods of Microsoft, I would not
want then to set my house on fire :):)

Please,,,, understand that I must not instruct you in the crime
of stealing Windows. If this is your goal please do NOT read
this reply and your legal problems are you own !!!!

Can you still get into Windows ?
if so, download a free key retriever called JellyBean
by Alec Ozolins, from:

This tiny program will display all the Microsoft keys on your
machine (or any other machine, if you have access to one)

You may wish to disable your resident anti-virus program
before running it, though, because many Anti-Virus companies
treat key retrievers as undesirable.

The Jellybean is legit and clean as long as you own a legit
license to the target computer and you just lost the CD

If you can no longer get into Windows (anywhere),
then you can try to call Microsoft with a soft story,
and expect the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, the IRS, CSIS,
RCMP,MI5 and MI6, the KGB, the Interpol, Moussat and
the Mafia all at you doorstep in under 10 minutes, not
necessarily in that order.

Alternately, you can search Emule,, crack-spider
or the

Keep in mind, however any corporate or leaked product key
that has been in the wild for too long, is likely to be blocked
by Microsoft for the purposes of Activation or updates.

Many hacker sites offer random key generators which Microsoft
cannot easily block, but make sure you scan these for viruses
(very carefully) before running them on a good machine.

These key generators also generate the second activation
code specific to your machine, just choose to activate by
phone, not over the internet, then enter your machine ID
(request code) into the keygen, and get back the required
phone activation code.

Another way is to use corporate or special keys, that Microsoft
does not WISH to block, such as internal Microsoft keys,
corporate training keys etc. There is no shortage of these on
Emule or pirates bay either.

In the case of VISTA, check pirates bay for Windows Pantehon.
The pantheon group released VISTA before Microsoft did :):)
using an OEM emulation driver and a key-less version of
windows Vista Ultimate, which Microsoft cannot block,
because all the OEM laptops such as Dell and ASUS
would no longer work. The OEM's rejected any concept of
activation to harrass their customers, and opted to put a secret
code in their BIOS instead.

Pantheon emulates this BIOS at a low level beneath Windows.

Like I said, I am assuming that you really paid for your windows
copy. If you were trying to pirate windows, I obviously want
no part of it. The nice people at Microsoft work very hard at
world domination, and they do not take piracy lightly.
