Perform a hard reset by inserting a paperclip into the reset hole while powering up. To access the router use address http://192.168.1.1
On older LinkSys routers, the username is set to blank and the password is set to "admin" (without the quotes). On newer Linksys routers, both the default username and the default password are set to "admin".

Thank you so much daPete for telling me there was a reset hole in my router. I hadn't seen it and kept telling everyone that mine had no reset button!

You can reset the router by pressing the reset button on the back. Login to the router at 192.168.1.1. default username and password should both be 'admin'. You can then make the necessary changes you need.

Hope this helps

How can I get the router IP of my Linksys 2.4GHz broadband router?

The Linksys G router gives you both wired and wireless connections over a broadband Internet connect to create a local area network. The Linksys router is compatible with wireless G and B devices, through the 2.4-GHz wireless band. The wireless speed is at 54 megabytes per second and you can get 100 megabytes per second with a wired connection. You have to set up the wireless configuration on the Linksys before using it on your network.

Plug the router's power cable into an electrical outlet. Attach an Ethernet cable into the Internet port on the back of the router. Connect the other end into your broadband modem. Connect your computer to the Linksys G using another Ethernet cable. This Ethernet cable can go into any of the wired router ports. Open your Internet browser. Type "192.168.1.1" in the address bar and hit "Enter." This is your router's IP address and the home of its Web configuration page. Click "Wireless." Click "Manual." Alter your SSID, also known as your network name. You can change this name to any value that you want. You can also change the wireless channel if you are in an area with many wireless connections that may interfere. Click "Save Changes." Click "Wireless Security." Choose an encryption method to encrypt your wireless transmissions. WPA or WPA2 are common security protocols you can use in wireless networks. Input a network key, also known as the network password. Click "Save Changes."

Is there any way to find out what the current username & password are? I prefer not to reset the router because we have a gamebox attached to the router now & I don't want to goof it up.

Do you have at least one computer which has connected to that router via wireless? If so, the password should be stored in that computer.

If that computer has Windows 7, there is a built-in function to display the password. Go to:
Start > Control Panel > Network & sharing > Manage wireless
That will being up a list of routers. Find the correct one, right-click and select "Properties".

12_31_2011_9_45_20_pm.gif

That will bring up an info box for that router. Select the "Security" tab, The security key (password) will be hidden behind asterisks. Place a check in the box for "Show characters". That will display the password

12_31_2011_9_46_55_pm.gif
If the computer which has connected to the router has an older operating system (Vista or Windows XP), then you may not have that built-in password display feature. But you may still be able retrieve the password by installing some specialized software.

Here are two suggested free software programs to display wireless passwords:

Want to connect aDI-604UP wired router to a DIR-615 wireless router to use as a printer port wirelessly

Hello Richard.

For this, you have two types of connection
1. LAN_LAN (ethernet to ethernet) -->wireless router is acting as a switch
2. LAN_WAN (ethernet to internet)-->wireless router is acting as a wireless router

in this case, you need the LAN_LAN connection

Physical connection:
plug an ethernet cable from the ethernet port on the wired router and connect the other end of that cabl to the ethernet port on the wireless router

Configuration:
log-on to the setup page of the wireless router, do this while the wired router is turned off.
-open your internet browser, type 192.168.0.1 on the address bar. Then type the username & password for the router ( default admin as the username, password : ).
Under the setup tab, click manual configuration. Then click network settings, change the router ip address to 192.168.0.5 & disable the DHCP server. save the settings. Just personalize the wireless network.

Hope this helps.

Hi there, you don't need to install from the disk. Make sure your modem connects to your router and then the computer's LAN port is connected to the LAN port of the router. Open internet explorer and in the address line type 192.168.1.1 this will connect you to the router's setup. On older Linksys routers the default username is blank and the default password is "admin." On newer Linksys routers, both the default username and the default password are set to "admin." You then can find the wireless setup to configure your router. Make sure if you use a WEP code you use the same code from your computer's wireless adaptor. Good Luck...

Linksys Router Installation Model Number WRT54GX4 with SRX

Booba,
With your question about the internet type you are right to set it to DHCP. And For the password you are also right. Now for the ssid that will be the name that your router will be broadcasting. If you can get your computer online through port no.1 on the router that only means that the router is already configured properly for internet connection. Now since the wireless is not working its possible that its not connected yet to the wireless network that you have set up where you were running the setup cd. Do you know how to view the available networks on your wireless computer? If you kindly provide me with the operating system of your computer that will go wireless on your network and also the model no. or the brand of the wireless adapter on it.
