Drain the oil tank, now will witha suitable cleaning fluid, rinse the tank out several times, this will help to remove any dirt in the oil filter screen, remove the bar and chain, clean out the bar rail and oil feed, now try again.
Testimonial: "I'll know more when I go to the shop to try it, but this is info that I can use and has the sound of a pro's advice,"
I put some gas in the oil tank after draining it, replaced the lid, and shook it for a bit; then I emptied, refilled with bar oil and closed it up. I went over the bar really well; I had forgotten the passegeways between the oil holes and the groove that the chain runs in, but I unclogged them. Oil still doesn't come out with engine running and bar off or with the bar on. Seems like there is a diaphragm pump under the clutch that runs off the shaft that's not working.
It depends on what model this is, most machines will have a mechanical oil pump behind the sprocket, either driven by the sprocket itself, or driven by a gear predded onto the crank, if the drive gear is metal, then the pump shaft gear will be nylon, it may well have striped this gear, to get to this you will need to remove the clutch and sprocket, clutchs are usually just spun onto the crank with a left hand thread, this is why you should NEVER run the saw without the bar and chain fitted, or the clutch could fly off the end of the crank and cause personal injury.once the clutch and sprocket are removed you should see the pump, check both drive gears, pull the pick up pipe out and check for blockages.
hey adw1 ! right on advice again. I found the parts drawing on the P{Poulan site, and ordered the pump kit, pick up tube kit, and th "oil-vent check valve". I'll let ya know how it turns out. I'm new to Fixya, is there a place to make a donation for your help ?
thanks again
