Question about E-Machines eMachines Desktop PC

1 Answer

Moniter My moniter will not stay on and when I turn the computer back on, it says AVG and has the picture of the AVG cord. I assumed that the AVG cord had a short in it or something but when I bought a new one, it still did not work.

First please check whether the Monitor powering ON or not
the see the colour of light of the monitor i.e, its green or orange or not glowing next see that all the lights showing but constantly flickering or else just see u r VGA or DVI Cable which is connected properly to the CPU if it is ok then remove the cable connect only the monitor to different machine in case still not comming then finally it is a monitor problem or else just check all the connections inside the CPU

In case its monitor problem either it will not power ON or else all the lights will blink constantly that means the refresh rate or the Resolution of the monitor has been changed in case if it is done just connect a different monitor boot in the safe mode by pressing F8 button after entering there change the resolution which will be in the display properties apply and reboot the machine or else turn off u r PC and connect u r Old Monitor and Boot the Machine

Hi.
It is best to test your monitor on another computer. If it does not work on another then the Monitor is definitely the source of the problem. If your monitor works on another then the problem could be your video card or that your resolution is beyond the capability of your monitor. To test this, when you restart the computer if you do not see the BIOS screen or even the windows logo screen then it is the video card, but if you do and this problem occurs when you are in windows then your screen resolution is the problem. You could also try using a different monitor on your computer to check those settings.

Computer turns on and fan starts running, but the monitor has nothing on it. All the cords are pluged in.

unplug monitor power cord wait for 5 minutes then turn computer off and re hook up monitor and computer if the moniter does not come on then yo have a defective video card, but you can test it with another monitor to be sure. normally if the monitor was bad it would say no signal.

When i turn my computer on the power light and

Hello,

If your computer turns on and your monitor stays in stand by mode, then there is no communication between your video card and the monitor.
You could check if the cable is plugged in correctly or even faulty.

It is also possible that there is a problem with your video card. Maybe physically uninstalling and reinstalling it could solve it.

If none of this helps, then you might want to check a new video card.

Hope this helped.

My computer turns on but the moniter wont

Hi again
Hit F8 on start-up, you will see a sub menu pop up, choose safe mode and hit enter, if it boots into windows safe mode (don't choose system restore) go into device manager and uninstall the graphics drivers and restart the machine, the machine should now boot up and re-install the graphics drivers itself, it may ask to be restarted again.
Any more problems post back

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!
