Question about Dryers
It makes a squeeking noise, which was louder upon start up and would then go away during the drying cycle. Now it is getting worse, lasting through the cycle and getting louder. My wife found your site and noted that the drum bearing might need lubrication. Should I try that, or do I need to replace the bearing at this point? Special grease or what type? How do I access the bearing? Through the rear of the machine, remove the back panel? Thanks!

SOURCE: Fridgidare dryer problem
there is a front glide assembly, depending on model will have 3 teflon/plastic glides attached t o the felt, this may be your grinding and gap issue

It's most likely the roller bushigs/axles which need lubricating -- they've probably not failed yet, but will if ignored.
They squeak more when clothes are wet because of more weight.
I'd also lubricate the motor while your in there.
